Inhotim is open Wednesday to Sunday. The Belo Horizonte Marathon runs on a Sunday, so the day after the race is a Monday when the museum is shut, and Tuesday is shut too. That makes the museum a natural fit for a night in Brumadinho: travel on Tuesday, sleep nearby and walk the grounds on Wednesday.

June in Brumadinho: Dry season. Belo Horizonte's June normals show 11.4 mm of rain, with a mean daily minimum of 15.4°C and maximum of 24.9°C, so mornings are cool and afternoons mild. Inhotim's current opening hours are Wednesday to Friday from 09:30 to 16:30, and weekends and holidays from 09:30 to 17:30. Old schedules that list Tuesday opening no longer apply.

The Museum

Inhotim needs a lot of walking, and a marathon runner has to plan for that. Paid carts and wheelchair loans are available subject to conditions and availability. They are not automatic transport to every artwork, so ask at the entrance as soon as you arrive. Wednesday entry is free but still needs a reservation. Ticket pages differ in how recently they were updated, so check the current checkout total, not a figure quoted in a guide.

Choose a short route of a few galleries and gardens, take the cart where it applies and sit often. Do not try to cover the whole site in one afternoon.

Where to Stay and Eat

The official visitor pages list accommodation nearby, with no race package implied. Pick a room within a short ride of the entrance, and ask about luggage storage when you book, because public storage may not be available. For meals, check the opening hours of the cafés inside the museum on the day.

Getting Home

Return to Belo Horizonte by the same coach or car. For the airport, Confins (CNF) is reached by the Conexão Aeroporto coach from Álvares Cabral, about 50 minutes on the operator's ordinary estimate. Leave plenty of time after the museum closes at 16:30 or 17:30 if you fly the same evening.
