A night at the airport makes sense when the return transfer lands you at JNB with no margin. The package lists return transfers arriving at the airport at 08:00, 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00 and 18:00, and a private transfer is EUR 600 each way. An evening arrival can leave you running for a flight, so a night beside the terminal removes that risk.

June in Johannesburg: The Highveld is dry and cool in winter, with a sharp drop at night. Pack a jacket for the walk between the terminal and the hotel.

The Evening

Allow the airline's check-in time and walk or shuttle back to the terminal. Do not plan a guided city tour around an exact transfer arrival time.
