After the Blackpool Marathon: Fleetwood and the Tramway

Riding the same tramway that runs past the marathon's own promenade course, but continuing north to its full terminus, makes for a genuinely low-effort day: seated the whole way, with the option to get off and explore Fleetwood once there. April on the tramway: the historic and modern trams run their normal daily schedule, unaffected by seasonal tourist volume.

Fleetwood

Fleetwood, a working fishing port at the northern tip of the Fylde coast, has a genuinely different character from Blackpool's resort feel: a real fish market, a lighthouse, and a seafront that feels functional rather than built purely for entertainment. The Fleetwood Museum, covering the town's fishing and maritime history, is a low-effort indoor stop suited to legs still recovering from the marathon. The town's outdoor market, when running, adds a further reason to browse without much walking required.

Where to eat: Fleetwood's fish and chip shops, drawing on the town's own fishing heritage, are the obvious choice for lunch, several within easy walking distance of the tram terminus.

Getting Back

The return tram runs the same full coastal line back to central Blackpool, requiring no separate planning beyond catching the next service.
