After the Boka Marathon: Kotor, Perast and Tivat
The Route: Kotor → Perast → Tivat → Tivat airport Logistics: Short taxi hops between towns that are all on the same bay. Marathon Month: December Duration: 3 nights
Kotor Old Town (night 1) ──(taxi)──> Perast (day trip)
│
└──(taxi)──> Tivat, Porto Montenegro (nights 2 and 3)
│
Tivat airport (4 km)
The three towns sit on one bay, so this plan is about reducing movement. Spend the first night where the race ends, then drift back along the shore towards the airport.
December on the bay: it is a quiet season. Many seasonal places close, so check opening hours before you plan around a restaurant or boat.
Night one: Kotor
Stay in the Old Town, near the finish. Cattaro and Marija have Old Town addresses, and Astoria has a restaurant at Trg od pošte. Walk slowly, and keep the climb of the city walls (about 4.5 km in length) for another trip.
Day two: Perast
Take a taxi to Perast, about 12 km from Kotor, and walk the waterfront. See the separate guide to Perast for the detail. Return to Kotor for the night or move straight on to Tivat.
Nights two and three: Tivat
Tivat is the race start town, and it lies about 4 km from its own airport. Porto Montenegro is a marina area with hotels, including Regent, and La Roche stands on the Pine waterfront. La Roche's restaurant Mala Bevanda lists pasta, risotto and wood-fired pizza, with only 12 indoor seats, so book a table. Its beach lounge is open in summer only.
Walk the waterfront for a recovery stroll. It is flat. Take the first day to do nothing and the second to walk the marina.
Getting home
Tivat airport is 4 km from Tivat by road. Book a taxi, or ask your hotel to arrange one, because no airport bus was confirmed. Check your flight times for December, since not every route runs all year.
