After the Maratona de Curitiba: The Linha Turismo
The Route: Hotel → Linha Turismo circuit → Jardim Botânico stop → Hotel Logistics: The sightseeing bus runs from 08:30 to 17:00. A full circuit without stops takes about three hours. A 24-hour ticket costs R$50 at current prices. Marathon Month: November Duration: Day trip
Hotel ──(Linha Turismo, about 3 hours)──> Main sights ──> Jardim Botânico ──> Hotel
The Maratona de Curitiba finishes in the Centro Cívico, a district of museums and administrative buildings. The Linha Turismo is the easiest way to see the rest of the city on a Monday, because the legs do the least work and the bus returns to where it started.
November in Curitiba: Spring. Days are often mild, but the weather changes quickly and showers are common. Bring a light waterproof and sun cream, and check the forecast the evening before.
Get on at an accessible stop near your hotel. Ask the driver or the ticket desk about the first departure, and check the current timetable, as frequency changes between weekdays and weekends. A seat on the upper deck gives the best view, but the stairs can be hard on stiff legs, so choose a lower seat if needed.
The circuit
The bus passes the main squares, the parks and the cultural buildings. A full loop takes about three hours without stops, so a boarding pass lets you hop off at one or two places. The Museu Oscar Niemeyer is closed on Mondays, so it makes a poor stop the day after the race. Use the bus to see the building from outside and save the galleries for another day.
A garden stop
The Jardim Botânico is the best place to walk. Entry is free and the gardens open daily from 06:00 to 19:30. The paths are paved and the gradient is flat, and a ramp leads to the greenhouse. Walk for twenty minutes, sit, and rejoin the bus. Special areas can close in rain.
Lunch and the return
A late lunch in the centre or near the garden works well. Check opening hours with your hotel before choosing, because some kitchens keep shorter hours on Mondays. Return to the hotel in the afternoon for a rest, since there are no bags to carry and no transfer to make.
