The Lobé Falls lie about 6 km from Kribi, where the river meets the ocean. UNESCO lists the site on Cameroon's tentative list, and a tentative listing is not World Heritage inscription. The visit is optional and the rest day is the main event.

November in Kribi: it is hot, humid and often wet. Rain and sea conditions may change your plans.

Getting There

Travel on the first day, and ask Kribi Lodge about a transfer from Douala, how long it takes and how much it costs.

The Days

Spend the first day resting. On the second, visit the falls if you want to. Kribi Lodge advertises sea excursions that need three days' advance reservation, so ask before you arrive. Check the sequence of land and boat travel, the steps, the equipment, weather cancellations and the pick-up time before you pay. Keep a hotel-only day as the fallback.

The Lodge

Kribi Lodge in Bwambé is the lodge to ask about. Check the room, early breakfast and the distance to the dining area.

Getting Home

Return to Douala on the third day with plenty of slack. Douala International Airport (DLA) is the arrival point for most visitors, and a hotel transfer is the simplest way to reach it.
