After the Gaborone Marathon: Khama Rhino Sanctuary
The Route: Gaborone → Serowe area → Khama Rhino Sanctuary → Gaborone Logistics: Hire car or private driver. The journey north takes most of a day, so plan an early start. Marathon Month: May Duration: 2 nights

The race is on a Sunday, so a Monday start means a long, tiring drive on sore legs. If you can, rest on Monday in Gaborone and leave on Tuesday. Anyone driving should share the wheel.
May in Botswana: the dry winter is starting. Days are warm, nights are cold, and game viewing becomes easier as vegetation thins. Pack warm layers for early drives.
Nights One and Two: The Sanctuary
Khama Rhino Sanctuary is a community-run reserve near Serowe, with guided drives in a vehicle that let you see wildlife without walking. Book accommodation and drives directly with the sanctuary and ask what is currently on offer. Check prices and opening arrangements before you travel.
Getting Home
Leave early on the final morning and allow generous time for the drive back, since fuel stops and road works can add delays. Fly from Sir Seretse Khama International Airport (GBE). Check road and driving advice with the FCDO and your hire company before setting out.
