The race is a Sunday, so the Monday is a rest day in Gaborone. The Delta follows on Tuesday. Most camps sell transfers and activities as a package, so ask what is included.

May in Botswana: this is early in the dry season, when water levels in the Delta are typically rising. Boat and mokoro trips are seated, which suits tired legs. Nights are cold, so bring warm layers.

Night One: Gaborone

Rest. Stay near your race hotel and keep walking short and flat. Confirm your onward flight times and baggage allowances, since small aircraft often have strict limits on soft bags.

Nights Two and Three: The Delta

Camps vary widely in style and price, so book directly and ask what activities are included. Activities are by boat or vehicle and need little walking. Check current prices and availability, because camps fill early in the dry season.

Getting Home

Fly back to Gaborone and on to Sir Seretse Khama International Airport (GBE) for the connection home. Leave a buffer between the Delta flight and your international departure, since small-aircraft schedules can slip. Check the FCDO advice on malaria and arrange individual medical advice well in advance.
