The marathon turns around at Intermares, which is already in Cabedelo, so the runners who finish in João Pessoa have been to the edge of this town without seeing any of it. The tour goes the rest of the way, and you do it sitting down.

August in João Pessoa is the wet end of the year. Long-term city normals show around 200 mm of rain across the month and highs near 28°C, so the beaches are warm but not guaranteed sunny. The sunset at Jacaré is the point of the day, and the operator says plainly that a clear sky cannot be promised. Take a light shell and treat the sunset as a bonus.

The tour from Luck Receptivo combines the Fortaleza de Santa Catarina at Cabedelo, the northern beaches and the sunset on the Praia do Jacaré. The operator markets the evening with Ravel's Bolero, which is the tradition on that stretch of the river. It lists departures on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, lasts a full day and collects from partner hotels. The published rate for the 2027 season, February to December, is R$178. Admission to the fort, meals and the optional boat are extra. Prices vary, so use the figure as a guide only, and check the current schedule at luckreceptivo.com.br before you book. A Monday departure after a Sunday marathon is possible, though your legs may prefer Wednesday.

What the day asks of your legs

The fort is a coastal fortification, so expect an uneven approach and some steps. Ask the operator how much walking each stop involves, and stay on the minibus at any point where you would rather not. The beaches are sand, which is hard work on post-race calves. Keep your shoes on, walk the firm sand near the waterline and leave the long beach walk for another trip.

Carry water, sunscreen and a change of top for the evening. The return after sunset is by road, in the dark, so do not plan anything tight for the same night.

Eating

The tour does not include meals. Ask the operator which lunch stop the tour uses. If you want a proper seafood dinner afterwards, NAU Frutos do Mar in Manaíra (Rua Lupércio Branco 130) and Mangai (Avenida General Edson Ramalho 696) are both in the city, and both take bookings on their social pages. Ring first for opening times, which change.

Getting back

The minibus returns you to the hotel where you were collected. From there, no airport transfer is needed on the same day. If you fly out the next morning, João Pessoa's Presidente Castro Pinto Airport (JPA) is in Bayeux, and the airport operator lists a 24-hour taxi service and an app pickup point. Confirm the fare before you set off.
