The Route: Hotel → Terra Kulture → Hotel → Murtala Muhammed International Airport Logistics: Stay put. Keep luggage in the hotel and book the airport transfer the day before. Marathon Month: February Duration: 1 night

Packing straight after a marathon makes for a poor morning. An extra night on Victoria Island leaves the day after for rest, a proper lunch and a transfer you are not rushing for.

February in Lagos: very warm, with a monthly mean of about 29°C. Plan indoor time in the afternoon.

Night One: Victoria Island

Book a seated meal at Terra Kulture Restaurant, Plot 1376 Tiamiyu Savage Street, off Ahmadu Bello Way. The restaurant lists daily opening from 09:00 to 22:00, with the kitchen closing earlier, and a menu that includes boiled yam or fried plantain with omelette. Reserve, since a hungry group may not be seated at once. The cultural centre's own page gives different Sunday hours, so ring ahead. Any theatre programme needs checking separately.

Where to Stay

Eko Hotels & Suites is on Adetokunbo Ademola Street, and Radisson Blu Anchorage on Ozumba Mbadiwe Road beside the lagoon. Check the current rates and ask for late checkout.

Getting to the Airport

Ask your hotel for a named pickup to Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) and agree the fare and time allowance in advance. One Victoria Island hotel quotes about 34 km to the airport, and traffic is slow, so leave plenty of time.
