After the Marathon des Châteaux du Médoc: Listrac-Médoc
The Route: Pauillac or Bordeaux → Listrac-Médoc → Pauillac or Bordeaux Logistics: Organiser buses on the Sunday, booked with the walk. Places capped at 3,000. Marathon Month: September Duration: Day trip
Bordeaux ──(organiser bus)──> Listrac-Médoc ──(walk)──> Château Fourcas Dupré (lunch)
Pauillac ──(≈15 km, 2027 times not yet out)┘
The morning after the marathon, the organiser runs a walk for everyone involved in the weekend: runners, the people who came with them, volunteers and partners. For 2027 it moves to Listrac-Médoc, starting at 09:30 on Sunday 5 September, and it finishes at Château Fourcas Dupré, where lunch is served under a marquee from 12:30. The walk costs 8 euros and is limited to 3,000 people. Lunch is booked separately, and entry to the marquee is by the wristband issued with your bib on Friday.
It is the gentlest possible way to loosen up legs that ran 42 km the day before, and it takes you somewhere the marathon does not go.
Listrac-Médoc
Listrac-Médoc is one of the six communal appellations of the Médoc, alongside Pauillac, Saint-Julien, Saint-Estèphe, Margaux and Moulis. It sits inland, about 15 km south of Pauillac as the crow flies, away from the Gironde and the estuary-side estates the marathon runs past. The 2026 walk, held that year in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, covered 8 km with four tastings along the way. The route and length for Listrac have not been published yet, so check the organiser's programme in the summer before booking.
The commune also runs a food village from 12:30 on the Sunday, so supporters who skip the lunch booking still have somewhere to eat at the finish.
Getting There and Back
The organiser runs Sunday buses between Bordeaux and the start of the walk, booked through the same transport page as the race-day buses. In 2026, when the walk was in Saint-Julien, they left Bordeaux at 08:30 and Pauillac at 09:00, returned at 15:30 and cost 23 euros. Expect a similar pattern for Listrac, and book when the transport sales open in March.
Driving is possible, but after a day of tasting on course and a lunch built around wine, the bus is the sensible choice.
Good to Know
Buy the walk as part of a package if you can: the Pack Plaisir bundles the bib with the walk and lunch for 168 euros, and the Pack Prestige adds the Friday Mille-Pâtes dinner for 235 euros. Both are cheaper than buying the pieces separately. Wear comfortable shoes you have already raced in, since vineyard paths are gravel, and carry water and sun cream: early September afternoons in the Médoc are warm.
