The race is on a Sunday, so Monday afternoon is the natural time to move. Karen is a quiet suburb with gardens, and most of what you want to see is within a short drive of each other.

October in Nairobi: the short rains start, so expect showers and soft ground in gardens.

Night One: Karen

The Karen Blixen Museum lists daily opening from 08:30 to 17:30 on the museum authority's page, and tickets are booked through eCitizen. A hospitality site gives different hours, so go by the museum and reconfirm. The house and its grounds are the direct link to Isak Dinesen's memoir. Walk the garden only as far as your legs allow.

Day Two Morning

The Giraffe Centre opens daily from 09:00 to 17:00 on Nyumbi Road off Duma Road. The feeding platform is raised and requires only a few steps.

Where to Stay

Book a Karen-area hotel or guesthouse directly and ask about late checkout. Tamarind Tree, in the Langata and Carnivore grounds, is a verified option on the same side of the city; ask about its rooms and transfers.

Getting Home

Arrange a transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) through your hotel, and leave generous time for traffic. Agree the fare in advance.
