The Novi Sad Marathon finishes on a Sunday, and the farms at Čenej are an easy way to spend the night after. A salaš is a traditional Vojvodina farmstead, and the ones on the old Subotica road serve food and, in some cases, take guests.
October in Čenej: the farms are working places, so book ahead in any season. Opening days are not published for most of them.
Getting there
Bus 35 to Čenej leaves from the main bus station at Bulevar Jaše Tomića 6. The village is about 10 km along the old road to Subotica. Timetables are at gspns.co.rs. A taxi is the simpler option with luggage.
The farms
The city tourist office lists these along Međunarodni put and nearby:
Salaš 137 (Međunarodni put 137, salas137.rs) has a restaurant and three-star rooms. It is closed on Mondays, which is the day after the race, and booking is required. That makes it a poor fit for a Sunday night stay.
Brkin salaš (Međunarodni put 312, brkinsalas.rs) offers food and four-star accommodation. Pajin salaš (Međunarodni put 325) and Mitin salaš (Vuka Karadžića 53) are restaurants. Several offer horse riding and carriage rides.
The ground is flat and the walking is short. Confirm with the farm whether you can book dinner for a Sunday evening.
Getting home
Return by bus 35 to the main bus station. For Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG), the cheapest route is a bus to Novi Beograd and a train to Petrovaradin, about 1 hour 27 minutes on an aggregator estimate, and a taxi takes about 58 minutes. Check the railway stop, because stopping patterns changed in October.
