Polis is the opposite of Paphos in February. The town sits on Chrysochou Bay at the north-western tip of the island, away from the harbour streets, and it is quiet enough that a stiff-legged runner can wander without queues or crowds.
February in Polis: the sea is cold and the town is out of season. In most years there are mild hours between showers, though conditions vary and the wind off the bay can feel cold when you are not moving. Boat trips and some seasonal businesses may not be running, so do not plan around a Blue Lagoon boat.
Take a taxi from your hotel to Karavella and catch route 645. Confirm the winter timetable and the last return departure at the stop. Book a hotel in Polis that you have confirmed is open and serving dinner in February, and ask about a lift or ground-floor room.
Monday: the town
Settle in and take a short walk through the centre. Regional tourism describes Polis and Chrysochou Bay as the starting point for the Latchi coast. If you want to see Latchi, use route 622 or a local taxi and do not assume a walk. Keep the afternoon slow.
Tuesday: the way back
Take a quiet morning, then the bus back to Karavella. Avoid the Akamas hiking routes on legs that ran a marathon two days earlier. Leave your main luggage at the Paphos hotel before you go, since a bus is not a safe place to leave it. Allow time for a taxi from Karavella to the harbour on arrival.
