The race is on a Sunday, and Monday is a good day to leave. A works timetable published by ONCF showed a train from Rabat Ville at 08:36 reaching Fez at 11:34, which is 2 hours 58 minutes. Engineering timetables differ from the normal service, so check the April schedule and reserve a seat.

April in Fez: mild, with some rain on a few days. Stone streets are slippery when wet.

Night One: Fez

Arrive, check in and rest. Keep the first afternoon free. Ask your hotel or riad how to reach the door, since many medina addresses are a walk from the nearest road, and whether they can collect luggage.

Night Two: Fez

Book a guide for one morning and ask for a shortened route with plenty of stops. The medina has steps, slopes and uneven stone, which is hard going two days after a marathon. Skip anything strenuous and finish with a seated lunch.

Where to Stay

Choose a riad or hotel that can arrange a pickup at the station and tell you the exact approach. Confirm breakfast hours and late checkout.

Getting Home

Take the train back to Rabat or arrange a transfer to the airport for your flight. Leave a margin rather than a tight connection, since timetables can change.
