After the Radenci Marathon: Kapela and the Springs

The Three Hearts Marathon finishes on a Saturday morning in Radenci, and the Sunday can be spent without leaving the district. The spa town is known for mineral water, and the surrounding villages have springs and a wine fountain.

May in Radenci: the park and the springs are outdoors, so a wet day changes the plan. The distances are short and mostly flat, which suits the second day after a marathon.

Radenci park and mini golf

The Radenci tourism institute lists the mini golf as open from 09:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and from 10:00 to 20:00 at weekends and holidays. The park is flat and paved. Check the hours on the day.

The springs

The tourism institute names mineral springs at Petanjci, Iron, Šratovci, Ožek and Zemljič, many of them on the flat. Not every spring is open or safe to drink from, so ask at the tourist office which are signposted. Keep the walks short.

Kapela wine fountain

The fountain is at Kapelski Vrh 91, on a hill beside the church of St Mary Magdalene. The listed hours are Monday to Thursday 14:00 to 21:00, Friday 14:00 to 22:00 and weekends 10:00 to 22:00. The approach is uphill, so take a taxi up and walk back down if the legs allow. Hours can change from year to year, so check before going.

Where to stay

The same rooms as race weekend work. Hotel Radin and Hotel Izvir are in the same spa complex. Ask whether late check-out is possible on the Sunday.
