After the Radenci Marathon: Murska Sobota

The Three Hearts Marathon finishes on a Saturday, which makes Sunday the day for Murska Sobota. Both of the town's main indoor sights close on Mondays, so a plan that slides to the Monday falls apart.

May in Murska Sobota: both places below are indoors, so rain does not matter. Hours listed are the ordinary seasonal ones; check the museum and Expano before going.

Getting there

Avtobusni Promet Murska Sobota runs buses from the Petanjci stop in Radenci to Murska Sobota bus station about every 30 minutes, taking about 15 minutes for a fare of a few euros. The 2026 race closed several roads and the operator cancelled some departures on race day, but on the Sunday the service should be back to normal. Check the timetable on the operator's site.

Expano

Expano is a regional promotion centre, billed as the doors to Pomurje. Its exhibits include Panofilm, a 3D projection through the region's past, Panoscope, a zoomable panoramic map, and Panofly, a virtual balloon flight over the area. It is open from 10:00 to 18:00, Tuesday to Sunday, with the last interactive admission at 16:45. It is closed on Mondays. Ticket prices are on the Expano website. Exhibits are on one level and involve standing and some seated experiences, which suits tired legs.

The Pomurje Museum

The regional museum is in the castle at Trubarjev drevored. It opens Tuesday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00, Saturday from 09:00 to 13:00 and Sunday from 12:00 to 16:00, and it is closed on Mondays. The castle has no lift, and the exhibitions involve stairs. After a marathon, choose either Expano or the museum, not both.

Eating

Ask Expano's staff or the tourist information office for a lunch recommendation in the town centre, and check the kitchen is open on a Sunday.
