The Route: Rosario → Buenos Aires (Retiro) → Palermo → Ezeiza or Aeroparque Logistics: A coach of about 4 hours from the Rosario bus terminal, then a taxi to Palermo. The Rosario Marathon is a Sunday in late June. Buenos Aires is the usual way home, and a coach ride on the Monday turns the exit into a short break.
June in Buenos Aires: Winter. Days are cool and nights are colder, so bring a coat. Outdoor sightseeing is comfortable at midday and less so after dark. The Monday and Tuesday after the race are the days to plan around museum closing days.
The journey from Rosario to Buenos Aires takes about 4 hours, and dozens of companies run the route. Departures leave from the Terminal de Micros de Rosario, and services arrive at the Retiro terminal and also at the Liniers and Dellepiane terminals, so check which terminal your ticket uses. Prices rise as the date approaches, so book early.
Nights One to Three: Palermo
Palermo is a large district of parks, restaurants and hotels, and it is where Aeroparque sits. Fierro Hotel, at Soler 5862 in Palermo Hollywood, has suites and a restaurant serving lunch and dinner, with a private garden. Palo Santo Hotel, at Bonpland 2275, includes breakfast, has a 24-hour reception and describes luggage and airport transfer services. Its normal weekday breakfast starts at 07:00, and its rooftop is mainly a warm-season amenity, so do not choose it for a winter pool.
For dinner, El Preferido de Palermo, at Jorge Luis Borges 2108, is on the city tourism listing, so check its current menu and Sunday and weekday opening before you go. The restaurant at Fierro Hotel is a practical second choice if the legs have had enough.
What to see on stiff legs
MALBA, the Latin American art museum at Avenida Figueroa Alcorta 3415, is an indoor, seated-pace visit. Its normal hours are Thursday to Monday, 12:00 to 20:00, and Wednesday, 11:00 to 20:00. It is closed on Tuesdays. The Teatro Colón runs a guided visit of about 50 minutes, normally daily from 10:00 to 16:45, with English departures at 11:00, 12:00, 13:00 and 15:00. The route is described as accessible, though working-theatre activity can change which rooms are open. Book a dated slot. The theatre is at Cerrito 628 and the ticket office at Tucumán 1171.
Puerto Madero is a waterfront district with the Puente de la Mujer. It is a flexible out-and-back walk with seats along the way, not a fixed appointment. A short loop in the parks of Palermo, including the area around the Planetario, is the easy option for the last morning.
Getting Home
Buenos Aires has two airports. Ezeiza (EZE) handles most long-haul arrivals and departures, and Aeroparque (AEP), in Palermo, serves domestic and regional routes. Ask the hotel to arrange a transfer to the airport, check the fare and journey time in advance, and allow a generous buffer for an international flight. Palo Santo describes airport transfer services, and the city's official arrival guide lists transfer options.
