After the Salisbury 5-4-3-2-1 Marathon: Bath by Train

The Route: Salisbury → Bath Logistics: By train; a direct, straightforward rail journey. Duration: Day trip

Salisbury ──(train)──> Bath

Bath makes an easy rail day trip from Salisbury, a genuine change of scale from the marathon's own rural, mixed-terrain route: a compact Georgian city built around honey-coloured stone and flat, walkable streets, well suited to legs still recovering from race day.

Bath

Bath's Georgian architecture, the Roman Baths and Bath Abbey anchor a compact city centre that rewards slow, flat walking rather than demanding much of tired legs. The Royal Crescent and the Circus, both short walks from the centre, round out an easy day of sightseeing.

Where to eat: Bath's city centre has a wide range of cafés and restaurants, from casual to more formal, all within easy walking distance of the main sights.

Getting Back

The direct train back to Salisbury retraces the same route, a straightforward end to the day.
