Perth and Scone Palace
Perth, Perthshire's largest town, offers a proper choice of shops and restaurants after Comrie's more limited village supply. Scone Palace, a short distance outside town, was the traditional crowning place of Scottish kings and holds the site of the Stone of Destiny, with formal grounds suited to gentle walking.
Where to eat: Perth's town centre has a good range of restaurants and cafés, a welcome change from Comrie's smaller selection.

The return drive to Comrie retraces the same route through the Perthshire countryside.
