After the Waterford Viking Marathon: Viking Triangle Museums
The Route: Waterford city centre, the Viking Triangle Logistics: On foot; no further travel needed beyond the city centre itself. Marathon Month: June Duration: Day trip
Waterford city centre ──(on foot)──> Viking Triangle
Waterford's Viking Triangle, the same district the marathon starts in, holds the city's densest concentration of museums and historic sites, an easy, largely indoor day suited to legs recovering from the marathon's long Greenway stretch.
Waterford Treasures and House of Waterford Crystal
The Waterford Treasures museums trace the city's Viking and medieval history across several connected sites, walkable within the compact Viking Triangle. The House of Waterford Crystal, directly on The Mall where the race starts, offers factory tours and a visitor centre, a genuinely low-effort stop.
Where to eat: The Viking Triangle has a good spread of cafés and restaurants, an easy option without needing to travel further.
Getting Back
Everything on this itinerary is within Waterford city centre itself, so there is no further travel required.
