After the Wild Atlantic Way Marathon: Donegal Town

The Route: Killybegs → Donegal Town Logistics: By car; the most practical way to reach Donegal Town from Killybegs. Marathon Month: May Duration: Day trip

Killybegs ──(by car)──> Donegal Town

Donegal Town, a short drive from Killybegs, offers considerably more infrastructure than the marathon's own remote start and finish villages: a proper town centre with its own castle, shops and a wider choice of restaurants.

Donegal Town

Donegal Castle, a restored 15th-century tower house in the town centre, anchors a compact and walkable historic core. The Diamond, the town's central square, is lined with shops and cafés, a genuine change of pace from Killybegs' working-harbour character.

Where to eat: Donegal Town's centre has a wider range of restaurants than either Killybegs or Glencolmcille, from casual to more formal dining.

Getting Back

The return drive to Killybegs retraces the same route along the Donegal coast.
