Windhoek <──(shuttle back)── Seafront day <──┘
Swakopmund is a long way from Windhoek, but the journey is the kind you can do in a seat. Do not catch the shuttle on the morning after the race if you can help it. Rest on the Sunday and travel on the Monday.
May in Swakopmund: the Atlantic coast is usually cooler than Windhoek and often grey in the morning. Bring a jacket, whatever the forecast says for the capital.
Getting There
Go2 publishes an 08:00 departure from the Windhoek Truckport. The journey is about 4 hours 15 minutes for 367 km, ending at The Delight in Swakopmund. The most recent published fare was N$850 one way; check the current figure. Confirm that the shuttle runs on your day, how much luggage it takes and when the return leaves, because a shuttle that does not run on a Monday is no use to a runner with a flight.
Night One
The Delight is the shuttle's published drop. Go straight to your room and eat nearby. A flat walk is enough on the first afternoon. Ask local operators what is running, because boat trips and sea conditions vary.
Day Two
Keep the plan loose. A seafront walk and a long lunch suit a body that ran 42.2 km three days earlier. Book any activity only after you have checked the boarding steps and how long you will stand.
Getting Home
Take the same shuttle back, or arrange a private transfer. Keep a buffer for your flight from Hosea Kutako International Airport, 45 km east of Windhoek, and avoid a tight international connection on the day you return.
