A note on why this page looks different
MarathonPassport’s standard race page is a travel-planning guide: hotel recommendations, sightseeing content, and post-race excursions. This page does not include any of that. The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office currently advises against all travel to Kyiv. This page exists to record the race’s existence and format, not to plan a trip there.
Current travel advice
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) advises against all travel to Kyiv and the great majority of Ukraine’s territory. A narrower “advise against all but essential travel” classification applies only to a handful of far-western regions; Kyiv falls under the blanket advisory, not that narrower category. Travel insurance is typically invalidated by travelling against FCDO advice.
Checked 22 July 2026: May 2026 saw the largest number of long-range Russian drone attacks on Ukraine to date, and May and June 2026 were the two highest months for civilian casualties since April 2022.
What the race is
The PrivatBank Kyiv Unbroken Marathon is organised by Run Ukraine. The 2026 offline event is confirmed for 10 October 2026, with an event window of 07:00 to 15:00, starting and finishing on Trukhaniv Island in the Dnipro river, central Kyiv. A separate online-format event runs 9-11 October 2026, with its own regulations and route, distinct from the offline course.
The marathon distance runs alongside shorter distances on the same day. European Athletics lists a ratified 2025 result from the same event at Trukhaniv Island, independent evidence that the race operated and produced official results the previous year. No current AIMS or World Athletics label status has been confirmed for this race.
Detailed course routing, lap structure and surface breakdown are not published on this page. This is a deliberate choice, not a research gap: publishing granular route and timing detail for a mass-participation event in an active conflict zone carries a different risk profile from doing so for a race elsewhere, and this page defers that judgement to the organiser’s own published materials rather than independently aggregating further operational detail.
The race’s name and its continued operation through the ongoing war are widely understood, within Ukraine and among the international running community, as an act of continuity rather than a conventional sporting event. That context, not international travel planning, is the reason this race appears on this site at all.
