After the Campo Grande Marathon: Caiman
The Route: Campo Grande → Caiman (3 nights, Thursday to Sunday) → Campo Grande Logistics: About 236 km and around 3h30 by road from Campo Grande, including a long unpaved section. The lodge advises that low cars may be unsuitable and restricts guest driving inside the property, so arrange a transfer or a suitable vehicle. Marathon Month: July Duration: 3 nights

The lodge's reservation rules decide this trip. Between 1 May and 9 November Caiman sells stays of at least three nights on a Thursday-to-Sunday or Sunday-to-Thursday pattern. The marathon is on a Sunday, so a Sunday arrival is impossible, and a Monday check-in is not on offer. The workable plan is a Thursday arrival after a few days in Campo Grande.
July in Campo Grande: The airport's figures for 2001 to 2010 give a July mean of 21.7°C, with a mean daily minimum of 16.6°C and a mean daily maximum of 28.5°C. These are for the city and are a ten-year record. Road conditions and seasonal water levels in the Pantanal affect access, and a July visit promises no particular animal sighting.
Before the Lodge: Monday to Wednesday
Keep the city room for the recovery days. The Bioparque Pantanal is open Tuesday to Saturday with a free reservation, so Tuesday works for a gentle visit, and Wednesday can be left empty. Pack the lodge bag early and ask your hotel to hold the rest.
Nights One to Three: Caiman
Collect your guided transfer on Thursday for the 3h30 drive, the last part on earth road. The package structure, the guides and what is included in 2027 should be confirmed with the lodge before you book. Ask for outings with recovery breaks, so that you are not walking long distances on tired legs on day one.
Rates and availability change, so request current prices and package dates from the lodge directly.
Getting Home
Return to Campo Grande on the Sunday, about 3h30 by road. The airport is Campo Grande (CGR). Taxis wait outside arrivals at all hours, and buses 409 and 414 stop outside the terminal with reduced service on Sundays. Leave a generous margin before an international flight, or add a night in the city.
