Wild Frontiers is the race's official travel partner and advertises marathon-plus-Serengeti options among its extensions. A safari is a good use of the days after a race because the game drives are done from a seat. Ask the operator for a day-by-day itinerary before you pay.
February in northern Tanzania: generally hot and drier between the rainy seasons, though showers happen. Check the forecast for the park you choose, as conditions and road quality vary.
What to Ask Before You Book
Ask how long the transfers take and whether they are by road or air, which park and lodge you will use, what the fees cover and how luggage is handled. A three-night safari is a different trip from a climb of the mountain. A climb needs a licensed guide under TANAPA rules and is a demanding trip of its own, so do not treat it as a casual follow-on from a marathon.
Health
Malaria and dengue are risks in Tanzania, and medical facilities outside the main cities are limited. Take individual advice from a travel clinic well before you travel, keep your insurance details with you, and remember that FCDO notes emergency access can be difficult in remote parks.
Getting Home
Allow a generous margin between the end of the safari and your international flight from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), as flights and road transfers can slip.
