Malta Marathon·2 nights

After the Malta Marathon: Gozo and Comino

Use Gozo as a base and treat the Blue Lagoon on Comino as a weather-dependent add-on rather than a certainty; late-February seas can be too rough for a comfortable crossing.

Two nights on Gozo gives enough slack to add Comino as a side trip without the whole plan depending on it, which matters in late February when the crossing isn't always calm enough to make.

Gozo as a Base

Victoria's Citadel, the quieter coastline and a noticeably slower pace than Malta itself make Gozo a comfortable two-night stay in its own right, independent of whether Comino is reachable.

Comino and the Blue Lagoon

Local boats run from Gozo to Comino's Blue Lagoon, weather permitting. Late-February seas can be rough enough to cancel or shorten the crossing, so this is worth treating as a bonus rather than a fixed plan, and checking conditions on the day rather than booking rigidly in advance.

Where to Stay and Eat

Victoria and the surrounding villages offer guesthouses and small hotels well placed for both the Citadel and onward boat trips, with Gozitan restaurants offering a genuine change from Malta's own dining scene.

Getting Back

Return to Malta via the same Gozo-Cirkewwa ferry route, with onward transport to Sliema or the next stage of the trip.
