Malta Marathon·1 night

After the Malta Marathon: Gozo

Malta's quieter sister island, worth an overnight rather than a rushed day trip given the ferry connection involved. A gentler pace than Malta itself.

Gozo asks for a proper overnight rather than a squeezed day trip: the transfer from Sliema to the Cirkewwa ferry terminal, then the 25-minute crossing, adds up to more travel time than a single day comfortably allows on legs still recovering.

Victoria and the Citadel

Gozo's main town centres on the Citadel, a fortified hilltop old town with views across the island. The climb up is gentle rather than strenuous, and the payoff is a genuinely different pace from Malta's busier coast.

The Coastline

Gozo's coast is quieter and less developed than Malta's, with small bays and inlets better suited to a slow walk or a swim than an ambitious hike.

Where to Stay and Eat

Victoria and the nearby coastal villages offer a range of guesthouses and small hotels, with local restaurants serving Gozitan specialities that differ meaningfully from Malta's own food scene.

Getting Back

The return route retraces the outbound journey: ferry back to Cirkewwa, then onward transport to Sliema or wherever the next leg of the trip begins.
