Florianópolis airport (FLN) ◄──(local transfer)┘
Pomerode is a small, quiet town in a valley. Florianópolis, 170 km to the south-east, is an island city with a historic centre and a long list of beaches. Three nights is enough for a gentle introduction and a flight out.
October in Florianópolis: October does not guarantee beach weather. The nearest figures are Pomerode's October monthly range of 15 to 23°C and 194 mm of rain, and the island will differ. Keep the plans flexible and carry a waterproof.
Getting There
The local tourism association gives about 170 km and a little over two hours by car as ordinary geography, with congestion, stops and city access adding time. No operator-confirmed through coach from Pomerode was found, so a public plan needs separate, dated bookings, possibly via Blumenau, and a last-mile connection. A pre-booked direct transfer is the dependable option.
Where to Stay
- Faial Prime Suites is in the central area, with reasonable reviews. Ask about the walk to Praça XV and the breakfast times.
- Pousada Ilha Faceira is in the Campeche area, close to the beach, with very high reviews. It suits the last night, with a transfer to the airport the next morning.
The First Afternoon
Settle in and rest. Walk on level ground, and leave the dunes and the trails for later.
The Historic Centre
Choose a modest visit around Praça XV and the outside of the Palácio Cruz e Sousa. Check the museum's actual opening hours before you go in.
The Beach Day
Campeche is the obvious beach for a quiet day. Dunes, sandboarding, long trails and boat trips to the island are all poor choices for tired legs. Sitting near the water is the easier option.
Where to Eat
Ask your hotel for a seafood restaurant near the door. The island is known for it, and an early dinner is the sensible plan.
Getting Home
Florianópolis has its own airport. Ask your hotel for the transfer time and keep one spare day for weather. If you are flying out of Navegantes instead, the road from the island is a separate journey, so book it in advance.
