History
The Pomerode Marathon began as a half marathon. The running festival dates from 2008, and 2024 publicity counted fifteen earlier editions of the 21 km. The 42.195 km race joined the programme on Sunday 27 October 2024, with the 6 km and children's races on the Saturday before. Lucas Simões de Oliveira and Rosângela Vieira were reported as the first full-marathon winners, and Lucas finished in 2:27:01.
The festival grew quickly. The organiser reported almost 170% more entries than at the same point the year before, about 2,300 extra athletes by June 2024, and more than 7,000 athletes took part over both days. For the 2025 festival, which ran on 25 and 26 October, all 7,500 places were reported sold out by 6 October.
By 2026 the full marathon carried a Brazilian national Ouro permit, number 42/2026, and World Athletics listed the course as measured to Rule 31.21 until 2028. The race was held on 18 October 2026. Guilherme Henrique Bueno Czuy won in 2:35:41 gross, 2:33:55 net, with Márcio Pasqualini second in 2:36:04 gross. Juliana de Souza won the women's race in 3:10:32. The timing page labelled its deeper classification as unofficial. The organiser reported 8,500 athletes across the festival that year, a different figure from the 7,116 finishers shown on the timing page.
The 2027 rules add a choice at entry between competitive and participative status. Competitive entrants are ranked and eligible for awards and official results; participative entrants are not.
The course
The Pomerode Marathon starts at the Pórtico Turístico Sul, the town's southern tourist gate on Avenida Jorge Lacerda, at 05:31, and finishes at the Pavilhão de Eventos Municipal on Avenida 21 de Janeiro. The 2026 route makes two short loops in the town centre in the first 8 km, climbs north on Rua Luiz Abry, Rua Progresso and Rua Testo Alto to a turn at km 20, and comes back down the same valley. It then runs south through the centre on Rua Hermann Weege and Rua dos Atiradores to a turn on Rua XV de Novembro at km 37, and finishes back at the pavilion.
The profile spans 46 m, from 54 m to 100 m above sea level. The start is at 61 m and the first 9 km stay between 56 m and 63 m. The road then climbs 20 m over 6.9 km (0.3%) from km 5 to 75 m at km 12, and 31 m over 6.8 km (0.5%) from km 13.2 to the high point of 99 m at the northern turn at km 19.9. The return falls 42 m over 19.5 km (0.2%) to 55 m at km 37, the low part of the course, and the last 4 km rise gently to the finish at 63 m. No official climb figure has been published.
The organiser places bands and a beer point on Rua Gustav Krahn, Rua dos Atiradores, Rua Erwin Krueger and the SC-418. Water is offered about every 2 km, with a draught-beer stop at km 39.5.
A beer stop at km 39.5. The 2026 aid plan listed draught beer close to the end of the race. It is optional and sits between the last water points, and the finish voucher is a second beer.
Cutoffs well inside the finish limit. Three checkpoints (km 24, 31.5 and 37) apply gross-time limits inside the six-hour finish allowance. A runner who stops to enjoy the cultural points still has that time counted.
Folk music in the finish area. The 2026 programme describes bands, folk groups and traditional games around the events pavilion.
Kilometre by kilometre
Km 0 to 9: two loops in the centre. The gun is at Avenida Jorge Lacerda 821 at 05:31, with elite runners away one minute earlier. The half marathon starts with the full, so the first kilometres share the road with the 21 km field. The route runs south on Rua XV de Novembro, loops through Rua Elfi Fischer and Avenida 21 de Janeiro at km 2 to 4, and returns north on Rua XV de Novembro, Rua Arnoldo Hass and Rua dos Atiradores. Water is on offer at km 3, 6 and 9 in the 2026 plan, with the first toilets at km 8. The road stays at 56 to 63 m.
Km 9 to 20: north to the turn. Rua Hermann Weege and Rua Luiz Abry lead out of the centre from km 9, and the road climbs from 62 m to 75 m by km 12. Rua Progresso follows at km 13 to 15 and Rua Testo Alto from km 16, climbing to the 99 m high point at the turn at km 19.9. Special support with fruit, peanuts and Coca-Cola stood at km 20 in 2026.
Km 20 to 31.5: back down the valley. The return runs down Rua Testo Alto, 24 m in 5 km, and reaches Rua Hermann Weege and the centre by km 28. The cutoffs are 3:24:59 at km 24 and 4:27:59 at km 31.5, both in gross time.
Km 31.5 to 42.2: south to Rua XV de Novembro and the finish. Rua dos Atiradores carries the course south from km 32 to km 36, and the southern turn on Rua XV de Novembro comes at km 37, where the last cutoff of 5:24:59 applies. The road is at its low point of 55 m and rises gently back north to the finish at the pavilion. Water and isotonic drink come close together near the end, with draught beer at km 39.5.
The race starts at 05:31 at the southern tourist gate on Avenida Jorge Lacerda. The half marathon starts with the full, and the road stays between 56 m and 63 m.
A gradual climb of 51 m over 11 km on Rua Luiz Abry, Rua Progresso and Rua Testo Alto, to a turn at km 20 and the 99 m high point.
The same road falls 42 m to the centre, with cutoffs at km 24 and km 31.5 in gross time.
The route follows Rua dos Atiradores south to a turn at km 37, passes the final cutoff and returns to the events pavilion. A draught-beer point stood at km 39.5 in 2026.
Course Map
The course as mapped for 2026, from the Pórtico Turístico Sul through the centre and north along Rua Testo Alto, then back through the centre to a southern turn and the finish pavilion. Tap a marker for details, and scrub the slider or press play to move the orange marker along the course with the elevation profile beneath it.
Pacers
Official pacers have not been announced; check the participant guide.
The full marathon shares its Sunday start with the half marathon, and a 6 km race and a children's race run on the Saturday. Only the 42.195 km race is covered on this page. The half marathon has its own measured course and its own elevation profile, and its figures should not be used for the full.
October monthly climate averages for Pomerode run from a minimum of 15°C to a maximum of 23°C, with 194 mm of rain across the month. Those are monthly figures from a 30-year series, not readings at 05:31, so check the forecast in race week. Expect a cool start and a mild late morning, with a fair chance of wet roads.
Wear shorts, a light singlet or short sleeves and a cap, and keep a thin waterproof for the wait at the start if rain is forecast. A removable layer is useful in the dark hour before the gun. Clothing storage at the finish pavilion is for clothes only and needs your bib for collection, so keep valuables on you. No clothing-donation scheme was found, so assume a discarded layer is lost.
Entry
Entry to the Pomerode Marathon is open now through the VemCorrer platform. The form accepts a CPF, a passport or another identity document, so a Brazilian tax number does not look essential. The checkout has not been tested with a foreign card. Entrants must turn at least 20 during 2027.
The launch lot ran from 19 to 28 October 2026 at R$79 without a kit or R$179 with the normal kit. Fees then rise in steps to R$259 without a kit and R$379 with the normal kit between 10 September and 13 October 2027, when registration closes. A Plus kit costs R$409 to R$489 depending on the lot. A convenience charge and 1 kg of non-perishable food are added. Boleto payment ends on 6 October 2027. Runners aged 60 or over pay half of the non-promotional fee from 29 October 2026 onwards.
At entry you choose competitive or participative status. Competitive entrants are ranked, eligible for awards and subject to technical rules on headphones, phones, outside help and shoes. Participative entrants are not ranked. Elite entry is by application: men must have run 2:30 or faster and women 2:50 or faster, in at least two official events in the previous 12 months, with the curriculum sent to the organiser.
A seven-day withdrawal period applies and refunds are otherwise limited. A formal transfer costs R$30 and must be requested 30 days before registration closes. There is no ballot, charity place or official travel allocation. Read the cancellation clause before buying non-refundable travel.
| Event | Men | Women |
|---|---|---|
| Full marathon | 2:30:00 or faster | 2:50:00 or faster |
Fast runner standards
The elite standard above applies to a separate application route. It is not a guaranteed-entry standard for the general field.
Race Weekend
Expo and bib collection
Kit collection is at the Pavilhão de Eventos Municipal, Avenida 21 de Janeiro 2700, which is also the finish and the bag-drop venue. It opens on Friday from 10:00 to 19:00 and on Saturday from 09:00 to 19:00. The Saturday expo closes at 20:30 under the 2027 rules, although the 2026 programme ran later.
Bring photo identification and your entry confirmation, which can be digital. A friend can collect with written or digital authorisation. A limited chip and bib collection on Sunday morning runs from 04:30 to 05:00, but it forfeits the kit and is not for elite entrants. The collection venue is about 800 m from the start gate, so a Sunday collection leaves little margin for the walk.
The normal kit contains the selected shirt, a bag, the bib with its chip and sponsor items, with the medal awarded at the finish. The Plus kit adds a beer cup and strap and a finisher's singlet. Shirt sizes are chosen at entry and cannot be swapped. Bring the 1 kg of non-perishable food.
Getting to the start
The race has two venues. Bags go to the finish pavilion on Avenida 21 de Janeiro, and the gun fires at the Pórtico Turístico Sul on Avenida Jorge Lacerda, about 800 m away. Reaching the start is the runner's job. At 4 to 5 km/h the walk is roughly 10 to 12 minutes before any queue or crossing, so arriving at the pavilion in the last minutes before a 05:31 start is a bad plan.
A workable sequence is breakfast at the hotel, then the pavilion for storage and toilets, then the walk to the pens. The elite start is 05:30 and the general full and half start at 05:31. Pens are self-selected and no closing time was published. The pavilion opened at 04:00 in 2026, but 2027 times are not yet issued.
A hotel in the centre removes the transport problem. For a stay in Testo Central or Testo Alto, agree a dawn transfer with the property in advance. No race shuttle, free bib-based fare or pre-dawn bus from Blumenau was found. The shared airport service runs only to Blumenau.
Hotel breakfast hours are a real question: a 24-hour reception is not a 24-hour buffet. Ask what is available before 05:00. Hotel Bergblick advertises a self-service area open 24 hours, with a microwave, kettle and sink.
After the finish, collect your clothing at the pavilion with your bib. The kit includes a beer voucher. The 2026 programme had bands and folk groups, but 2027 times are not yet issued.
Nutrition on course
The 2027 rules promise special support for the full marathon and say the station positions will be published up to ten days before the race. The 2026 full plan gives a guide. Water stood at km 3, 6, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 24, 26, 28, 30.5, 33.5, 35, 37, 38.5, 39.1 and 40.5. Isotonic drink stood at km 14 and 38. Special tables at km 20 and 31.5 offered peanuts, potato chips, fruit, paçoca, salt and 200 ml of Coca-Cola.
Draught beer stood at km 39.5. It is an optional feature and does not replace conventional hydration. Toilets were listed at km 8, 16, 20, 24, 26, 35, 37 and 41.5.
The release names DOBRO as a drink partner, but no formula, cup size, gel service, ice or sponges were confirmed. Carry the gels you train with.

Spectating
The two reliable places to watch are the start gate and the finish pavilion, about 800 m apart. A spectator who wants a guaranteed reunion should pick the pavilion's public area. At a steady 6:00 per km, a 42.195 km race takes about 4 hours 13 minutes, so a runner starting at 05:31 finishes around 09:45. That is arithmetic and not a prediction.
The 2026 programme placed bands on Rua Gustav Krahn at Rua Testo Alto, on Rua dos Atiradores and on Rua Erwin Krueger at the Rodovia XV de Novembro, and a beer point on the SC-418. None has a confirmed kilometre, crossing or parking arrangement for 2027.
- Reach the start gate by 05:30 on foot from a central hotel.
- Watch the start from an authorised side of the road, then walk to the pavilion.
- Allow 10 to 12 minutes plus crossings for the 800 m between the venues.
- Go straight to the pavilion's public area and agree a meeting point outside the finish flow.
- Visit Zoo Pomerode, which opens at 08:00, with children while waiting.
- Return to the pavilion in good time for a fast finisher.
- Choose one point from the 2026 band list once the 2027 map is published.
- Work out the runner's arrival from their actual pace.
- Allow for parking and crossing time before heading back to the finish.
Post-race food
The finish includes a beer voucher and arena food vendors, but a full meal is not confirmed. Plan a snack you know and eat properly afterwards.
Pomerhof Restaurante, at Avenida 21 de Janeiro 2115, lists a daily lunch buffet, with indoor and outdoor family areas and parking. It is on the same avenue as the finish pavilion.
Wunderwald, at Rua XV de Novembro 8444 on the Blumenau road, publishes Sunday lunch from 11:30 to 16:00. Its menu combines German cooking with Italian dishes and seafood. It needs a car or taxi.
Schornstein Kneipe, at Rua Hermann Weege 60 in the centre, serves regional dishes and snacks alongside its own brewery's beers. Confirm Sunday hours before relying on it.
Where to Stay
Pomerode is small enough that three bases cover most visitors, and a fourth, Blumenau, works as a fall-back.
Centro
The start gate and the finish pavilion are both here, about 800 m apart, so a central hotel keeps race morning simple. Hotel Schroeder, Lena Rosa Premium Hotel & Pousada, Hotel Bergblick, Casa Branca Pousada and Pousada Max all have Centro addresses. They are not the same distance from the pavilion, and none of the walks has been measured. Check the exact street before booking.
Testo Central and the southern road
Pousada Edelweiss, on Rua XV de Novembro, and Wunderwald sit on this corridor. It suits a visitor with a car who wants to extend the trip, but the race morning needs a pre-arranged driver.
Testo Alto
The countryside along the Rota do Enxaimel is a holiday base, not a race base. Confirm the entrance and the early road access before booking.
Blumenau
About 30 km away, with a shared airport shuttle that ends at Alameda Rio Branco 92. It adds a second leg to Pomerode, and no Sunday pre-dawn service was found.
Book a refundable room until the race map and the collection arrangements are published.
Recommended hotels
At Rua XV de Novembro 514, with standard rooms and larger suites and private parking. Pre-dawn breakfast, lift and late checkout are unconfirmed.
At Rua Heinrich Passold 277, with a garden, a pool and adapted rooms. Early food is unconfirmed.
At Rua Georg Zeplin 120, with a self-service area that is open 24 hours with a microwave and kettle, laundry and an adapted senior suite. Airport transfers are quoted separately.
At Avenida 21 de Janeiro 4200, with 10 suites in large grounds. The number in the street address is not a distance from the pavilion.
At Rua XV de Novembro 257, listed with a 24-hour reception and breakfast. The listing is from the tourism association and the pre-gun breakfast is unconfirmed.
Booking timeline
Entry is open, so the first decision is the fee lot. The launch lot ended on 28 October 2026, and later lots run to 13 October 2027, subject to stock. The 2025 festival was reported sold out by 6 October, so a late booking carries some risk, although that observation does not give a usual sellout date.
Once you have an entry, look for a refundable room that lets you arrive before the Friday and Saturday collection windows close and leave after Sunday. No hotel sell-out date, race rate or early-breakfast package was found.
Plan the whole airport journey. Navegantes is about 75 km from Pomerode, and the shared airport service stops in Blumenau. An arrival near the Saturday closing time is exposed to ordinary delays. Check the course map and aid sheet when they appear, up to ten days before the race.
See & Do
Distances are from the finish, kilometres first, then miles.
Museu Pomerano
A local-history museum with a collection that includes carriages. The listing gives Tuesday to Friday 10:00 to 11:30 and 13:00 to 17:00, and weekends and holidays 10:00 to 16:00. It is not listed as open on Mondays. Admission is shown as free on the current register and R$6 on an older one, so check at the door.
Zoo Pomerode
Open daily from 08:00 to 18:00. The tariff on the site ends on 14 December 2026, so check the current price. Choose a short visit, as the circuit means a lot of standing.
Tour Nugali
A self-guided chocolate-factory visit, estimated by the operator at about 50 minutes. It opens daily 09:00 to 18:00 with last entry at 17:50, except on 1 January and 25 December. Entry is R$50, with under-fives free, and production may not be running during your visit.
Rota do Enxaimel
A heritage route of about 50 half-timbered houses along 16 km. Many are private homes, so visit only the public stops. A route of that length is not a recovery walk.
After the Race
The Pomerode Marathon is run on a Sunday in late October, so Monday is the day to leave. The four options below run from a few hours around the Rota do Enxaimel to three nights on the island of Florianópolis. Book transfers separately from tours, and check the current bus timetables before committing to public transport.
A Monday of heritage houses and chocolate, with a driver doing the hills. The central museum is not listed as open on Mondays, so this plan avoids it.
A night in the larger city, with museums that open on Tuesdays and a link to the airport shuttle. Check the coach timetable for your date.
Two nights by the sea on Praia Central, which has a promenade of about 7 km. October does not guarantee swimming weather.
An island city with a historic centre and a choice of beaches. A direct transfer is the fallback if no through coach suits.
