The marathon starts and finishes at Old Town Square, so there's no separate finish-line city to discover the way a point-to-point race demands. The day after suits revisiting the same landmarks the course ran past, this time at a walking pace and without 9,000 other runners for company.

Early May in Prague runs mild but genuinely changeable; carry a light layer rather than committing to shirtsleeves regardless of the morning forecast.

Charles Bridge, crossed by the race itself at 2.8 km, is worth seeing again properly: an early-morning visit, before the day's tourist crowds build, gives a clearer view of the statues lining the bridge than race day's own moving field ever allowed. Prague Castle, visible from the course near the 1.8 km mark, rises above the far bank; a full visit involves genuine climbing, better suited to legs that have had a full day's rest than the morning straight after the race.

Malá Strana, on the castle side of the river, rewards a slow wander rather than a fixed itinerary, its cobbled, hilly streets scenic but a real consideration on legs recovering from 42 kilometres. The Rudolfinum, passed twice by the marathon course itself, sits back across the river and is worth a proper look from outside even without a concert ticket.

There is no return journey to plan beyond walking back across the river or catching a tram if legs have had enough; Old Town Square is close enough to all of these sights that the whole day works without leaving the city centre.
