After the Mt. Rwenzori Marathon: A Boat Morning on the Kazinga Channel

The race finishes in Kasese on a Saturday, so Sunday is the natural rest day. A boat trip asks nothing of the legs beyond a few steps at the jetty.

September in Kasese: the start of the rainy period, which the municipal council puts between August and November. Showers are likely, tracks can be slick, and wildlife is never guaranteed.

The Channel

The Uganda Wildlife Authority describes the Kazinga Channel as the link between Lake Edward and Lake George, with hippos and buffalo, and birdlife along its banks. Book an operator that includes the park fee and the transfer, and ask about boarding steps and assistance, because a boat trip does not always mean step-free access.

Lunch

Eat at the operator's base or back in Kasese. Sandton Hotel on Rwenzori Road has a restaurant, and Rwenzori International Hotel in Kamaiba is another option; confirm hours first. FCDO advises bottled or boiled water.

Getting Back

Keep the same driver, agree the return time in advance, and be back at the hotel before dark.
