After the Mt. Rwenzori Marathon: A Night Near the Equator
The Route: Kasese hotel → Kikorongo lodge (1 night) → One guided park activity → Kasese or Entebbe Logistics: Confirm the transfer and the room access before you leave Kasese. Marathon Month: September Duration: 1 night

Runners start the marathon at the Equator in Kikorongo, so the lodges there already know the race. After a Saturday finish in Kasese, a night on the other side of the course gives you a different view of the same highway.
September near Kasese: the rainy period starts. Expect showers and soft ground, with mud possible on park tracks.
Night One: The Lodge
Kikorongo Safari Lodge is a race travel partner that describes itself as about one kilometre from the start. It also has hillside cottages, so ask for a room with an easy approach. Katara Lodge, on the escarpment, is another lodge the organiser lists. Neither listing includes a transfer, so get a written quote for the drive and the meals, with park fees listed separately.
Day Two
Book one guided activity, ideally vehicle-based, and leave the rest of the day empty. The lodge arranges excursions, so ask what is available on your date.
Getting Home
Agree the return transfer in advance. The organiser estimates about eight hours by road from Kampala or Entebbe, so for a flight home either fly from Kasese Airstrip (KSE) to the capital or leave a full day for the road.
