Helsinki sits across the Gulf of Finland from Tallinn, close enough that three separate ferry operators between them run close to 10 sailings a day each way, making this the rare day trip that crosses a genuine international border without any of the usual friction. The crossing itself, at around 2 to 2.5 hours, is long enough to sit down properly and short enough not to eat into the day.
