After the White Peak Marathon: Cromford Mills and Matlock Bath

The Route: Cromford → Matlock Bath Logistics: On foot or a short local journey; both sit close to the marathon's own finish. Marathon Month: May Duration: Day trip

Cromford ──(short walk)──> Matlock Bath

After a genuinely demanding trail marathon on former railway lines, staying close to the finish makes sense. Cromford Mills and nearby Matlock Bath offer a low-effort day within easy reach, no further travel into the Peak District required.

Cromford Mills and Matlock Bath

Cromford Mills, Richard Arkwright's original cotton mill and part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage landscape, sits right at the finish, a compact and largely flat site suited to gentle walking. Matlock Bath, a short distance further, has a genuine Victorian spa-town feel despite being landlocked, with a promenade along the River Derwent.

Where to eat: Matlock Bath's promenade has a good spread of cafés and chip shops, a straightforward and low-effort option.

Getting Back
