History
The Maratona do Litoral is two editions old. The first full marathon was run on Sunday 17 August 2025, with 401 marathon finishers among about 3,100 across four distances. The organiser is Sports360º, a Paraná events company, and the race carries the name of its sponsor, the Curitiba running shop Procorrer.
The second edition moved to 25 and 26 July 2026. Saturday held children's races, a walk and the shorter running distances, and Sunday held the half marathon and the marathon. A combined entry called the Desafio do Guará pairs one Saturday race with one Sunday race, named after the red bird in the event's logo. It is a weekend challenge made of separate races and not a relay.
The 2026 marathon had a national Ouro permit from the Brazilian athletics federation, while the shorter distances ran under Bronze. Carlos Henrique de Souza won in 2:24:28, reportedly his first marathon. Rosangela Vieira of Brazil was the first woman in 2:58:09, with Purity Kagendo of Kenya second. Those are edition results and not course records. In all, 409 runners finished the marathon.
The organiser markets the course as the flattest marathon in Brazil. That is a promotional claim, and no national comparison supports it. The official website still shows the 2026 weekend and no 2027 date has been published.
The course
The marathon starts and finishes at the Praia Mansa square, Praça Dante Luiz Júnior, in the Caiobá district of Matinhos. It is a single out-and-back along the coast. After a loop through the streets near the start, the course runs north along Avenida Beira Mar to a turn at about km 20 near Avenida Deputado Aníbal Khury in Pontal do Paraná, 16 km from the start in a straight line, and returns the same way. The last six kilometres repeat a town loop before the finish.
The recorded line stays between 3 and 12 m above sea level for the whole distance, with no climb of 15 m or more. It starts at 8 m, runs between 6 and 8 m through the first 7 km, drops to 3 or 4 m on Avenida Beira Mar by km 8 and holds between 3 and 6 m to the turn. The highest reading, 12 m, comes on the inland streets near km 33.6 on the return. The organiser promotes the course as almost entirely at the water's edge and cites about 10 m of altimetry, while its athlete manual's plotted map shows 42.49 km with 110 m of gain. The two figures do not describe the same thing, and neither is a measured certificate figure.
In 2026 the manual placed a drink station every 3 km, isotonic drink at km 22 and km 32, and toilets at km 9, 15, 18, 22, 26 and 32. The half marathon starts with the marathon at 06:00 on the same roads. The exact turning point and the finish approach are not published.
Kilometre by kilometre
Km 0 to 6: a loop through town. The start is at Praia Mansa in Caiobá. The first six kilometres do not go straight out. The line heads north along Avenida Atlântica for about 3 km, drops back south through Avenida Maringá and Avenida Paraná for around 2 km, then turns north again on Avenida Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira. You pass part of the same ground twice, and with half marathon runners starting alongside you the streets are busy. It starts at 06:00, before sunrise, so these kilometres are run in half-light.
Km 6 to 20: the coast road north. Past km 7 the line reaches Avenida Beira Mar at km 8 and runs north-north-east on it in an almost unbroken line for about 12 km. The profile sits between 3 and 6 m, so there are no hills to break it up and pacing depends on how you manage the repetition. The turn is at about km 20 near Avenida Deputado Aníbal Khury in Pontal do Paraná. The rules set a checkpoint at km 20 to be reached in 2 hours 52, which is about 8:36 per km.
Km 20 to 36: the same road south. The turn comes before halfway. The half marathon point at 21.1 km is about a kilometre into the return. Everything you passed on the way out comes back in reverse, including the aid stations. The second checkpoint is at km 30 in 4 hours 18, again about 8:36 per km. A runner on that pace has 1 hour 42 left for the last 12.2 km, about 8:23 per km. The line leaves Beira Mar at km 32 and returns to the town streets by Rua da Fonte at km 33.
Km 36 to 42.2: the town loop again. The return comes back to within about a kilometre of the start around km 36. You do not stop there. The route loops north through Avenida Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira and Rua Bandeirantes, turns, and comes back south on Avenida Atlântica to the finish at Praia Mansa. The hardest part is probably mental, since you run past the arena with six kilometres to go.
Pacing. The overall six-hour limit works out at about 8:32 per km. Check the organiser's 2027 map for any change to the loops, the turning point and the finish approach before building a pacing plan.
A loop north, back south and north again through Caiobá and Matinhos, with half marathon runners alongside. Start easy.
An almost straight run at sea level on Avenida Beira Mar to the turn near km 20. The km 20 checkpoint is 2 hours 52.
You return by the outward route. Water and toilets repeat in reverse, and the km 30 checkpoint is 4 hours 18.
The route passes close to the start, loops through the streets once more and finishes at Praia Mansa.

The course from Praia Mansa in Caiobá, an out-and-back north along Avenida Beira Mar to a turn near km 20 and home along the same road, with a town loop at each end. Tap a marker for details, and scrub the slider or press play to move the orange marker along the course with the elevation profile beneath it.
Pacers
No official pace teams had been announced when this page was written. Check the organiser's channels nearer the race.
The 2026 rules ask foreign athletes for authorisation from the Brazilian athletics federation and limit each country to three marathon places. It is unclear whether this applies to ordinary visiting runners. Get the organiser's answer in writing before you book flights.
The weekend offered a combined entry that paired a Saturday race of 5 or 10 km with a Sunday 21 or 42 km. It adds a second race day to plan around. Pick the solo marathon unless you want both.
In 2026 numbers could be collected at Loja Procorrer in Curitiba from Wednesday to Friday and at the Praia Mansa arena on Saturday. The two documents gave different hours, so rely on the next athlete manual.
July is winter on the Paraná coast. A 30-year climatology for Matinhos gives a July mean low of 15°C and a mean high of 20°C, with about 89 mm of rain across the month. Those are monthly figures from a general source and not a forecast for race morning.
The arena opened at 05:00 in 2026 and the marathon started at 06:00, which is before sunrise. You may wait outside for an hour in the cool and damp, then run in rising temperatures. A light layer you can drop in the bag service or hand to a companion is more useful than a heavy one. If rain is forecast, a very light shell that packs into a waist belt is easier to carry than a poncho. A flat coastal route in the wind can feel colder than the air temperature suggests, so check the forecast for wind as well as rain.
The rules ban running without a shirt. No official throwaway-clothing scheme was found, so do not plan to leave clothes at the start.
Entry
Entry for the 2026 edition was open and paid, through the organiser's website and Ticket Sports. No ballot, charity place or international tour allocation was found. The 2027 date, entry opening and fee have not been announced, so book nothing non-refundable until they are. Take care not to confuse this race with the separate Maratona Internacional do Paraná on the Guaratuba bridge.
Foreign runners need to read the rules before paying. The 2026 regulations include a chapter on foreign athletes that asks for authorisation from the Brazilian athletics federation and limits each country to three marathon entries and one half marathon entry. It follows the elite section, so it may apply only to elite entrants, but it uses wording about foreign athletes in general. It was not possible to find out whether an ordinary visiting amateur is exempt. Write to the organiser and get an answer in writing before you book flights.
Starting order depends on the pace you select at registration, in four bands: faster than 4:00 per km, 4:00 to 5:00, 5:00 to 6:00 and slower than 6:00. These are starting groups and not qualifying times. Elite admission is separate. The 2026 standards were 2:24 for men and 2:52 for women over the marathon, based on official races in 2024 to 2026, with an application by email and an entry-fee exemption for approved athletes.
The 2026 rules allowed withdrawal within seven days of purchase and no general refund afterwards. Transfers went through the official ticketing process, and the athlete manual later set R$25 for a change of holder or distance at kit collection, subject to reserve bibs. A group offer gave one free entry for every ten athletes. An ordinary race shirt was an optional purchase, while full and half marathon finishers received a finish garment and a medal, so compare bib-only and shirt prices like for like.
No fee, entry cap, minimum age for the full distance or sale closing time was found.

Bib collection
In 2026 the athlete manual offered two places to collect your number. The first was Loja Procorrer, at Rua Vicente Machado 318 in the centre of Curitiba, on 22 and 23 July from 09:00 to 18:00 and on Friday 24 July from 09:00 to 16:00. The second was the race arena at Praia Mansa on Saturday 25 July from 09:00 to 18:00. An earlier rulebook gave different hours, with Friday until 18:00 and Saturday until 17:00, so rely on the manual published for the next edition.
Bring official photo identification and your entry protocol, which the manual allowed as a paper copy or a phone image. Someone else can collect for you with your identification and protocol. A visiting runner should confirm that a passport is accepted before leaving home. The Curitiba shop is not at the airport, and no airport desk or race-morning collection was found.
Getting to the start
In 2026 the arena at Praia Mansa opened at 05:00, the wheelchair category started at 05:55, and the full and half marathons started together at 06:00. Minute-by-minute wave releases and pen closing times were not published.
For a runner staying locally, the start is a pre-dawn walk or short ride, depending on the room. A hotel in Caiobá is not automatically beside the square, and no walking route from any hotel was measured. Ask your hotel to confirm the route in the dark and any road closures, and agree a drop-off point if you ride. The organiser's accommodation guide said Hotel Praia e Sol served breakfast from 05:00 on morning-race days. That is late for a 06:00 start if you need a transfer, so confirm the service or arrange a packed meal.
Runners who bought the 2026 coach left Procorrer in Curitiba at 02:15, and the return was planned for 13:00. That was a separately contracted service for purchasers and not part of the entry. The ordinary Graciosa buses between Curitiba and Matinhos take between 1 hour 30 and 2 hours 20, and the first departure shown was 06:30, which is after the start. They suit a day-before arrival.
Courtesy baggage was offered in the rules. Its location, size limit, hours and liability terms were not published. After finishing, the manual and rules mention a medal and a finish garment for full and half finishers. Finish food, showers and changing rooms were not described.
The start and finish are in the same place, which makes orientation easier. Do not book a same-day flight or a lunch at a fixed minute. A six-hour finisher is still on the course at noon, and the 2026 coach return was planned for 13:00.
Nutrition on course
The 2026 athlete manual set drink stations every 3 km. It did not say whether they served water in cups or sachets. Isotonic drink was listed for the full marathon at km 22 and km 32. The half marathon had a separate isotonic point at km 11, which does not apply to the marathon. Toilets were paired around the turn at km 9 and 32, 15 and 26, and 18 and 22.
Carry your own gels and a drink mix you have trained with, and find out whether a personal bottle can be left at a point before you rely on it. Because the route is an out-and-back, the stations you pass on the way out come back in reverse, so a toilet at km 18 on the outward route is the same place as km 22 on the return. The rules mention ambulances and medical support, but no staffed post at each drink station was described.
Spectating
The best-supported plan is a single meeting at the Praia Mansa finish, because the start and finish share one square and the rest of the course has no published access map. The Saturday children's programme asked for adult supervision, so a companion with children needs a plan that does not depend on the runner's finishing time. No spectator ticket was found either way.
From a 06:00 start, a four-hour runner finishes around 10:00 and a five-hour runner around 11:00, before allowing for start delay. Arrange the reunion point away from the finish chute.
Because the middle of the course is an out-and-back along the same corridor, one point on the coast road gives two sightings. At 6:00 per km, a runner would pass km 10 at around 07:00 and km 30 at around 09:00. Check on which side of the road each direction runs before choosing a spot. The far end near km 20 has no public transport stop or crossing, and a quick drive back to the finish will be hard while runners fill the road. Crowd density, music points and live tracking were not documented. Do not plan a three-stop chase.
- Walk or ride to an allowed approach to the square and stay outside the competitive lane.
- Arrange the reunion point away from the finish chute.
Post-race food
A finish food list was not published, so do not count on food at the finish. Collect your bag, go back towards the hotel and eat there. If you are staying at Hotel Sesc Caiobá, its page describes full board, but confirm the meal hours and whether your booking includes lunch.
Casa do Camarão, at Avenida Atlântica 2010 in Caiobá, is listed in restaurant directories as a seafood restaurant and is about 0.8 km from the finish in a straight line. Two directories disagree about its Sunday hours, so ring before you go. La Bodeguita is recommended for meat and seafood by Hotel Praia e Sol, but its own website did not load, so check the address and hours with the hotel.
Allow time for your bag and transport, and give a window and not a fixed arrival time, since your finish may slip. A self-catering room such as MK Flat's gives another option if you buy food beforehand.
Where to Stay
The start and finish share Praia Mansa in Caiobá, so the usual advice to stay near the finish applies to both ends. No hotel's walking route to the square was measured, so treat every area below as a short walk or ride to confirm with the hotel.
Praia Mansa and southern Caiobá
The first area to search for someone who wants the shortest morning. A room with a mapped, step-free approach to the square can remove a pre-dawn drive. Caiobá is a broad label, so check the actual entrance, the pavement and any race restrictions before paying more for a room that is supposedly close.
Caiobá and Praia Brava
The second area to compare, with Hotel Sesc Caiobá, about 2.4 km from the start in a straight line, and several pousadas listed in the organiser's guide. It suits a runner who wants a local base for a few days. A room on the wrong side of a beach or hill may be further than the district name suggests.
Central Matinhos
Hotel Praia e Sol is here, with breakfast included, noon checkout and no lift. Ground-floor rooms are available by arrangement. The hotel puts Caiobá about 2 km away, which is a broad figure and not a walk to the arena.
Flamingo
MK Flat, in the north of Matinhos, has a kitchen and a lift. A kitchen helps with a pre-dawn meal. The trade-off is a transfer to the south and an 11:00 normal checkout that a slow finisher may overrun.
Guaratuba
The organiser's lodging guide lists properties here too, but no race coach, bay-crossing time or early drive was found. Treat it as a longer-stay option and not a first choice for race morning.
No price ladder or noise pattern could be established. Book a refundable room once the date is announced, and ask about late checkout for the afternoon after the race.
Recommended hotels
Rua União 35. The organiser's guide said it served breakfast from 05:00 on morning-race days in 2026, which may still be late for a 06:00 start. Breakfast is included, checkout is at noon and there is no lift, although ground-floor rooms are available by arrangement. It has no transfer of its own.
Rua Cascavel 147. It has a kitchen and a lift, which helps with a pre-dawn meal. Normal checkout is 11:00 and a later checkout depends on availability. Plan a transfer to the south.
Rua Dr. José Pinto Rebelo Júnior 91. Full board is described on its page, and rooms are released in dated booking windows. A notice about pool renovation was on the page. Confirm meal hours and whether your booking is open to the public.
Rua Jacarezinho 275. Listed in the organiser's lodging guide. Ask about breakfast, checkout and the walk to the square.
Rua José Meduna 55. Listed in the organiser's lodging guide as a central alternative. Ask about breakfast, checkout and transport to the start.
Booking timeline
Wait for the date. The official site still showed the 2026 weekend when this was written, and the March 2027 announcement that circulated concerns a different race. Watch the organiser's channels for new rules, an entry link and an athlete manual.
Once the date is out, settle your eligibility if you are travelling from abroad, then compare refundable rooms near Praia Mansa and the wider Matinhos area. Use the organiser's lodging guide to find properties to ask, not as a room block. Sesc releases rooms in dated windows, and a late-2026 release does not cover a 2027 July weekend.
Before you book flights, allow for number collection. In 2026 it was possible in Curitiba on weekdays and at the arena on Saturday, with hours that differed between documents. Do not plan a Saturday evening arrival.
When transport sales and the final map appear, check whether a Curitiba coach is offered again, its return time and luggage rules. Keep regular Graciosa services as a separate option. Recheck park hours and any island boat arrangements nearer the date.
See & Do
Distances are from the start and finish at Praia Mansa, in a straight line, kilometres first, where they could be measured.
Praia Mansa and the Caiobá waterfront
The race base and a municipal visitor area. Take a short pavement outing or sit for a while afterwards and skip a long sand walk. Check the weather and bathing advice before swimming, since winter conditions can be rough.
Parque Estadual do Rio da Onça
A state park at Rua Argentina 99, reached by the PR-412 at Riviera II. The managing authority lists Wednesday to Monday from 08:00 to 17:00 and closes it on Tuesdays. It has five flat trails forming a 1.5 km circuit, raised bridges over flooded sections and a viewpoint near the treetops. Visitors register on arrival. Another government page gives different hours, so check before you go.
Central Matinhos seafront
A short look at the coast from the promenade, with somewhere to sit. Facilities in July are limited and the rocky surf point at the end is not a gentle recovery walk.
Morro do Boi
A hill of about 160 m between Caiobá's beaches, which the municipality describes as reached on foot. It is not a low-effort post-marathon outing. Leave it until your legs have recovered, and check trail conditions and footwear first.
After the Race
The marathon is on a Sunday in July, the Paraná coast's cool, quiet season. The first free days suit flat walking, a seafood lunch and a late start, and the longer trips (the island, the train to Morretes) are best kept for a day or two after the race. Sea conditions and park days decide what runs, so check the day before.
A flat 1.5 km circuit of boardwalks and bridges in a state park, plus a seated stretch on the Caiobá waterfront, kept short for tired legs. The park closes on Tuesdays.
Keep your room for a night, rest on the Monday and spend the day on the waterfront and at a seafood lunch before travelling to Curitiba.
A car-free island park reached by boat, with sand and boardwalks to walk and a day of rest first. Services depend on sea conditions.
A recovery night on the coast, then two nights in Curitiba with a day on the Serra Verde Express between the capital and Morretes.
