The organiser describes a mix of asphalt and natural trail sections through the Savoy residences, so runners chasing a time should not treat this as a pure road course. History
The Maratona Reale is organised by Base Running Team, working with the municipality of Venaria Reale, the Reggia di Venaria and the La Mandria Regional Park. The first edition was in 2025 and the second is on 11 October 2026, which makes it one of the youngest marathons on the site.
The marathon shares its weekend with a half marathon, a 30 km race that is new in 2026 and a 10 km race, plus a children's and family run on the Saturday. Organisers expected about 10,000 participants across all events in 2026. No winners, course records or marathon-only finisher counts have been published.
The course
All races start from the central avenue of the Reggia's gardens. The marathon runs at 09:00 and finishes at the Gran Parterre in front of the palace, 591 m from the start on the organiser's 2026 route. The route is a mix of asphalt and natural trail through the gardens, La Mandria Regional Park and the towns of Druento and San Gillio.
On that file the route is not one loop but several out-and-back passes through the same roads. It runs west on Viale dei Roveri and through Druento to San Gillio at 8 km, returns to the Reggia area at 18 and 19 km, goes north-east to the park's Rotta roads at 22 to 27 km, then repeats the Strada della Bizzarria at 29 to 33 km and the roads of Druento before returning to the gardens. The SRTM profile stays between 254 and 326 m, and the high point is on the Rotta Oslera at 23.5 km.
Kilometre by kilometre
Positions below come from the organiser's 2026 route and are approximate, and the organiser has not published a kilometre breakdown or surface split.
Km 0 to 10: west to San Felice. The gun is at 09:00 from the central avenue of the gardens. The route runs west along Viale dei Roveri at 1 and 2 km, close to the Castello della Mandria, then through Strada Rubbianetta at 3 and 4 km and Strada della Bizzarria at 5 to 7 km in Druento. It reaches its western end near San Gillio on Via La Cassa at 8 km and turns back on Via Druento at 10 km. The profile climbs about 32 m over 4.4 km to 281 m and rises to 309 m at 9 km.
Km 10 to 20: back towards the palace. The route descends by Strada San Gillio at 11 and 12 km, about 45 m over 3.6 km, then follows Viale Medici del Vascello and the road beside the park wall at 13 and 14 km. It comes back down Strada Rubbianetta and Strada Valsoglia at 15 and 16 km, to Strada della Barra at 17 km, the low point of the first half at 259 m. Viale dei Roveri is used a second time at 18 and 19 km, and the route climbs 16 m per kilometre there. It comes within about 1 km of the start before heading north.
Km 20 to 28: into the park. Strada del Due at 20 and 21 km leads to the Rotta roads: Rotta Oslera at 22 and 23 km, the north-eastern end of the route, at 320 m, with the high point of 326 m at 23.5 km. The route passes Rotta Bottion at 24 km, close to Villa dei Laghi, and Rotta dei Boschi at 25 to 27 km, on level ground at about 315 m. It drops 35 m in the kilometre to Strada di Lanzo at 28 km. The organiser names the castle area, Villa dei Laghi and Peppinella on this stretch.
Km 28 to 42.2: the return. Strada della Bizzarria comes round again at 29 to 33 km, climbing 26 m over 2.3 km to 302 m and falling 31 m after the turn at 31.4 km. The route reaches Druento at 34 km, repeats the park-wall road and Strada Rubbianetta at 35 and 36 km, and the Valsoglia and Barra roads at 37 and 38 km, then enters Venaria Reale by Viale Carlo Emanuele II at 39 km. It is back at the start area at 40 km, 254 m, and finishes by the Allea di Terrazza at 41 km and the Gran Parterre at 42 km.
The organiser has not said which stretches are trail. Shoes with some grip suit the unpaved sections, especially after rain.

Autumn mornings near Turin can be cool, so a throwaway layer helps in the start pen. The organiser provides a baggage check. Shoes with some grip suit the trail sections, especially after rain. Pack a light waterproof for a wet forecast.
Entry
Entry is open, through ENDU, with no ballot. The 2026 marathon fee rose by band through the year (table below). The last band on the organiser's table, €69, ended on 9 September, and whether entries remain open was not confirmed. Sterling figures use the ECB reference rate of €1 to £0.858 (28 September 2026). The 2027 terms are not published.
The entry includes medical assistance, insurance, a finisher medal, an official t-shirt, a bib, a timing chip, refreshment stations, a participation diploma and a baggage check. Competitive entrants must be 20 or over and hold an athletic medical certificate if they are Italian FIDAL athletes. Non-Italian athletes have self-certification options whose detail was not found. Starting waves are assigned by the finish time declared at entry.
No ballot, guaranteed-entry or charity route was found. Refund, transfer and deferral rules were not found.

Race Village and bib collection
Bibs are collected at the Race Village in Piazza della Repubblica, Venaria Reale, on Saturday 10 October from 10:00 to 19:30 and on Sunday 11 October from 07:00 to 08:30.
Bring identification, the entry confirmation and any medical or federation documents. Collect on Saturday if you can, because the Sunday window closes 30 minutes before the gun. Proxy collection and the size of the expo were not found.
Getting to the start
The marathon, half marathon and 30 km start at 09:00, and the 10 km at 09:20. Race-day bib collection runs from 07:00 to 08:30 in Piazza della Repubblica. Runners reach the start on foot through the entrance at Via XX Settembre, at the corner of Via Quirino Mascia. No shuttle was mentioned.
A baggage check is included in the entry; its location was not published. The cutoff is 5 hours 30 minutes and the finish is at the Gran Parterre. A hotel in Venaria Reale makes the morning a walk. A runner staying in Turin needs to check the early Sunday transport. Toilets were not described.
Nutrition on course
The entry includes refreshment stations. Their kilometre points, drinks, gels and solids were not published. Carry your own gels, especially on the trail sections.
Spectating
The simplest sighting is the Gran Parterre at the finish, in the gardens of the Reggia, and the start in the central avenue. The route comes within about 1 km of the palace at 18 and 19 km and is back at the start area at 40 km, so a supporter near the palace may see runners several times. The park and trail sections are harder to reach, and access was not described. Spectator intercepts and live tracking were not found.

Post-race food
No finish-area food or named restaurants were found. Venaria Reale's centre is close to the Reggia. Check which restaurants are open on the Sunday and book ahead.

The start and finish are both at the Reggia, so the finish-first and start-first answers agree: stay in Venaria Reale.
Venaria Reale centre
The best base, close to the Reggia and the Race Village in Piazza della Repubblica, which is 0.3 km from the finish.
Druento and San Gillio
Both are on the course, but small, and need a transfer to the start.
Turin
A large choice of hotels, but the morning needs a checked early Sunday transport option and a last-mile transfer. Do not assume the frequency.
Booking timeline
The 2026 fee rose through the year, so entering early saved money. For 2027, check the organiser's news page for the date before booking non-refundable travel, and hold a refundable room in Venaria Reale or Turin if travel is likely.
