History
The Maratona Internacional de Maceió held its first marathon on Sunday 2 August 2026, as part of a festival that the organiser says drew 13,200 people across four distances. The men's winner was Marcelino Soares do Nascimento in 2:30:12, and the women's winner was Willianny Caroline da Silva Dantas in 3:10:27. These are first-edition winners, not verified course records.
Done Sports, the organiser, has announced a second edition for the weekend of 31 July and 1 August 2027, with the marathon on the Sunday and companion races on the Saturday.
The course
The Maratona Internacional de Maceió starts and finishes at the Arena Maratona Maceió in the Estacionamento do Jaraguá, at 04:10 for the general field in 2027. The 2026 route was three out-and-back legs from the arena. The first runs north-east along the beachfront: Avenida Doutor Antônio Gouveia in Pajuçara (km 1 to 2), Avenida Silvio Carlos Viana in Ponta Verde (km 3), the cycle path beside the shore (km 4), then Avenida Álvaro Otacílio and Avenida Roberto Mascarenhas de Brito in Jatiúca (km 5 to 7) and Avenida Pontes de Miranda and Avenida Litorânea in Jacarecica. It turns at about km 10.5, the point furthest from the start, 7.9 km away in a straight line.
The return reaches Jaraguá at about km 21, passing within 400 m of the arena. The second leg runs south-west along Avenida Assis Chateaubriand through Prado, Trapiche da Barra and Pontal da Barra (km 23 to 32), turns at about km 28 and returns past the arena area at km 35. The third leg goes north-east again as far as Ponta Verde, turns at about km 38.7, 2.8 km from the start, and runs back to the arena for the finish.
The smoothed profile spans 11 m, from 3 m at Pontal da Barra (km 29.7) to 14 m in Jatiúca (km 15.6). No sustained climb or descent exceeds 15 m, and the largest step in any kilometre is 4 m. No official elevation-gain figure has been published, and the surface is asphalt.
Kilometre by kilometre
Km 0 to 21: out along the beachfront and back. The gun is at 04:10 in the dark, and the heat and humidity are already high. The route leaves Jaraguá and runs north-east on Avenida Doutor Antônio Gouveia, Avenida Silvio Carlos Viana and the shoreline cycle path, then Jatiúca and Jacarecica to the turn at about km 10.5. The ground stays between 9 m and 13 m. The return repeats the same streets and reaches Jaraguá at about km 21.
Km 21 to 35: south-west to Pontal da Barra. The second leg heads along Avenida da Paz and Avenida Assis Chateaubriand, through Prado and Trapiche da Barra to Pontal da Barra, the lowest and quietest part of the course at 3 m to 8 m. The turn is at about km 28. The return passes Avenida Duque de Caxias at km 33 and the arena area at km 35. This is the stretch where the sun comes up.
Km 35 to 42.2: a short leg to Ponta Verde. The last leg goes north-east along Avenida Doutor Antônio Gouveia and Avenida Silvio Carlos Viana to a turn at about km 38.7, 2.8 km from the arena, then returns to the finish. The ground is level at 10 m to 11 m, and the beachfront draws spectators.
The route passes the arena area three times, at about km 21, km 35 and the finish.
Pajuçara, Ponta Verde, Jatiúca and Jacarecica, with a turn at about km 10.5 and the same streets back to Jaraguá.
The lowest and quietest leg, at 3 m to 8 m on Avenida Assis Chateaubriand, with a turn at about km 28.
A short out-and-back to km 38.7 along the beachfront, then the finish at the Jaraguá arena.
Course Map
The 2026 course: three out-and-back legs from the Jaraguá arena, along the beachfront to Jacarecica, south-west to Pontal da Barra and back to Ponta Verde. Tap a marker for details, and scrub the slider or press play to move the orange marker along the course with the elevation profile beneath it.
August is the rainy season on Alagoas's coast. Old station normals give a monthly average daily minimum of 20.2°C and maximum of 27.1°C, with 179 mm of rain over 21 days. These are 1961 to 1990 figures, not a forecast and not a 04:10 temperature.
The marathon starts before dawn and the early hours are at the cool end. A removable layer is not needed for temperature. A light rain shell or a disposable poncho is more useful, and a cap that keeps rain off your face helps if a shower arrives. No clothing-donation scheme has been published, so keep the layer in the bag store or give it to a companion.
Wet roads are slippery, so choose shoes with a reliable outsole. Once the sun is up the last third of the race is warm and humid. Wear a light vest, apply sunscreen the night before and carry any electrolytes you rely on.
Entry
Entry is through Ticket Sports and is open. The rules give a closing date of 10 July 2027, subject to availability. Registration opened in August 2026.
The minimum age for the marathon is 20 on race day. Entry is linked to a Brazilian CPF tax number, so overseas runners should ask the organiser how to register without one before paying. No answer has been published.
The 2027 fee table has not been published, so check the price on the registration page before planning.
Elite entrants need organiser approval. This is not a general-entry standard.
Transfers and distance changes close on 1 July 2027 and cost R$50 each, plus any difference in the entry price. Refunds can be requested for seven days after payment. Check the cancellation and force-majeure clauses in full before paying. Do not buy a bib transfer from social media comments.
Two-day challenges that combine a Saturday race and the Sunday marathon exist. A challenge is not a solo marathon entry.
No charity places, tour packages, club quotas or deferred-entry guarantees have been verified.
Fast runner standards
There is no qualifying time and no ballot. Elite applicants are approved by the organiser, so no general good-for-age standard applies.
Race Weekend
Expo and bib collection
The 2027 expo venue, dates and hours have not been announced. Bring photo identification and your registration proof. A friend can collect your pack with signed authorisation. There is no race-day collection.
For reference, in 2026 collection was at Rua Sá e Albuquerque 651 in Jaraguá, from 29 to 31 July, 08:00 to 20:00, with an extra Saturday window for marathon runners from 12:00 to 15:00. The first 2026 schedule gave 10:00 to 20:00 and no late collection, so the schedule changed close to the race. Do not plan a 2027 flight around the 2026 Saturday window.
Overseas runners should find out in advance whether a passport is accepted and whether a CPF is needed at collection.
Getting to the start
The elite start is at 04:00, the disability category at 04:05 and the general field at 04:10. Use the later time for planning and add your own pen-entry margin. Follow the start time for your own category.
The start and finish are at the Arena Maratona Maceió in the Estacionamento do Jaraguá. Rua Sá e Albuquerque 651 was the 2026 collection address and is not necessarily the arena entrance. Confirm the correct entrance in daylight before race day and check how any crossings behave once barriers are up.
No 2027 closure plan, shuttle or public-transport service has been published. Arrange a booked car or a checked walk, and agree a drop-off point outside the barriers. Do not use the last arrival time of a vehicle as your pen deadline. Allow time for toilets, bag drop and finding your pen.
A bag service is confirmed in the rules. Hours, bag size and retrieval are not published. Leave documents and valuables at the hotel.
In 2026 the pens were allocated by declared finishing time, with a paid fast-track option and lettered bibs. Do not assume the 2027 arrangement matches.
Nutrition on course
The 2027 aid plan has not been published. In 2026 water was offered at km 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 31, 37, 39 and 42, Powerade at km 11 and km 29, fruit at km 17, FORCELL gel at km 33 and Coca-Cola at km 35. The 2026 rules gave water every 2.5 km, so the two lists differ. Treat all of it as 2026 only.
Cup format, volumes, personal bottles and elite tables are not documented. In the warm humid hours after sunrise, carry gels you have already tried and plan to drink at every station.
Spectating
Start and finish are at the same arena, and the 2026 route returned to the arena area at about 21 km and 35 km. If the 2027 course keeps that shape, a spectator at the arena sees the runner pass at the half-way point, at around 35 km and at the finish.
The examples below are from the gun. Add the runner's start delay. At 5:00 per kilometre a runner reaches 21 km at about 1h45, 35 km at about 2h55 and the finish at about 3h31. At 6:00 per kilometre the same points come at about 2h06, 3h30 and 4h13. The gun is at 04:10 for the general field.
Do not rely on this until the map is out. The arena is the only fixed point, and a position inside the finish area is not promised.
Post-race food
No finish-area food is published. Carry a snack. Two hotel restaurants in Pajuçara are leads, and neither is confirmed as a first meal after the finish.
Maendu, Mercure Maceió Pajuçara, Avenida Doutor Antônio Gouveia 627. The hotel describes regional food, a weekend breakfast until 11:00 and a lobby bar from 11:00 to 23:00. Check whether non-residents can use the restaurant.
Restaurant, ibis Maceió Pajuçara, Avenida Doutor Antônio Gouveia 277. The hotel lists breakfast and lunch with regional dishes. Confirm Sunday lunch hours and the menu.
Where to Stay
The arena is in Jaraguá, so the choice is between sleeping near it and sleeping in the main hotel district.
Pajuçara
The strongest option on the evidence. Several hotels publish addresses along Avenida Doutor Antônio Gouveia and the choice runs from budget to premium. It is a practical base from which to check the approach to Jaraguá. Gate-to-door distances have not been measured, so confirm the route and any crossings in daylight before relying on a walk.
Jaraguá
The first area to inspect if you want the shortest morning. An address described as Jaraguá is not enough. Check whether barriers block the shortest route, where the public entrance is and whether reception works at 02:30. No hotel noise survey or race-weekend price data exists.
Ponta Verde and Jatiúca
A better fit for a longer coastal stay. A local excursion operator picks up in both, and in Pajuçara. That says nothing about race transport before dawn. You need a booked car.
Cruz das Almas and farther along the coast
Suited to a destination extension. Do not treat them as equivalent to staying beside the arena. A tour pickup is not a marathon shuttle.
For any property, ask about early food, lift access, post-race shower access, luggage storage and late-checkout cost. Staying the Sunday night removes the pressure of a checkout before you have recovered.
Recommended hotels
A simple base with a 24-hour convenience store. An early meal is not confirmed.
Has a restaurant. The hotel page lists room works expected to run to December 2026, so check completion.
Restaurant, pool and accessible rooms. Normal breakfast starts after the race starts.
Family room configurations, a restaurant and a 24-hour bar. Larger rooms are limited to some categories.
The highest-service option of the five. No marathon breakfast, shuttle or late checkout is confirmed.
Booking timeline
Entry is open and closes on 10 July 2027, subject to availability. Do not assume a kit or distance stays available until the last day; the portal shows live stock. Resolve the CPF question with the organiser before booking non-refundable travel.
Book a hotel with free cancellation once the entry is confirmed. No sellout pattern, hotel release window or race premium has been published. Compare the cost of a Sunday night with a rushed checkout.
Delay fixed excursion bookings until the expo schedule and the tide timetable for early August are known. Avoid a long road trip as the only plan for the day after the race.
The airport is Maceió–Zumbi dos Palmares (MCZ). No airfare pattern has been established.
See & Do
Distances are from the finish, kilometres first, then miles.
Parque Massay-ó-k
A renewed public space on the Pajuçara waterfront, described by the city council. A short self-paced visit suits the day after the race. Keep it short and flat.
Museu Théo Brandão
At Avenida da Paz 1490, a university museum of regional folk art. The listed schedule is Tuesday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00 for temporary exhibitions. Sunday and Monday opening is not confirmed.
Jaraguá and the historic district
A local operator's city tour covers the historic district and other sights, and runs for roughly nine hours. That is long straight after a marathon, so ask for a shorter private version.
After the Race
A city tour and a long lunch at Praia do Francês, with the option to shorten the day.
Travel after a quiet morning, sleep by the beach and return the next afternoon.
Two nights on a quieter stretch of the Alagoas coast, with one full local day.
Three nights in Maragogi near the reef pools that appear at low tide.
