History
ASD In Corsa Libera announced the first Maratona Maga Circe for 2 February 2020. The 2024 race hosted the Italian individual marathon championships, and FIDAL confirms the San Felice Circeo to Sabaudia course.
The sixth edition, on 1 February 2026, set a new course record. Peter Kwemoi Ndorobo of Kenya won in 2:11:47, beating the previous record of 2:14:43, and his two Kenyan followers, Ishmael Chelanga (2:12:19) and Sampson Keiyo (2:14:04), also went under the old mark. Gladys Chemutai won the women's race in 2:37:57. The marathon had 672 finishers, the 29 km race 703 and the 10.6 km race 587.
The seventh edition is planned for 2027. Championship status and record eligibility should not be assumed for it. The women's course record has not been confirmed.
The course
The marathon starts at 09:30 on Via Ammiraglio Bergamini at San Felice Circeo harbour and finishes in Piazza del Comune in Sabaudia, 9.9 km away in a straight line. The road is asphalt. The 29 km race shares the San Felice start and the Sabaudia finish.
The organiser's 2026 route does not run in a simple line along the coast. It spends the first 21 km on the roads around San Felice, with a northern loop over Via Mediana Vecchia and Via dei Caprioli at 6 to 9 km. It then follows Strada Torre Paola at 20 to 22 km, the high ground of the course at 28 m on the SRTM profile, and turns north on Strada Lungomare through Sabaudia, reaching Strada del Sacramento at 33 km, 15 km from the start in a straight line. The return runs by Strada Diversivo Nocchia, Via Tortini and Corso Principe di Piemonte into the town.
The 2027 route has not been published, so the 2026 file is the best guide to the shape.
Kilometre by kilometre
The positions below come from the organiser's 2026 route. The 2027 route may differ, and the organiser's course page was not readable when this guide was written.
Km 0 to 5: the harbour and the shore. The gun goes at 09:30 at the harbour in San Felice Circeo, and the 42 km and 29 km races start together. The route leaves along Piazzale Italo Gemini at 1 km, then follows Lungomare Circe at 2 km, Viale Europa at 3 km and Via Castelli at 4 km, never higher than 12 m. Expect the field to bunch in the first kilometres.
Km 5 to 12: the northern loop. From Via Terracina at 5 km the route turns inland on Via Mediana Vecchia at 6 and 7 km and Via dei Caprioli at 8 and 9 km, the first real rise: about 21 m over 3.1 km (0.7%) from 5.6 km to 8.7 km, to 25 m. It then drops by Viale Duca d'Aosta, Via Quattro Novembre and Viale Regina Elena at 10 to 12 km.
Km 12 to 22: back through San Felice and on to Torre Paola. The route doubles back past Via Giacomo Leopardi at 13 and 14 km, then along Via Terracina again at 15 and 16 km, the second pass on that road. It climbs gently by Viale Tommaso Tittoni, Via Sabaudia and Via del Brecciaro at 17 to 19 km, 26 m over 5.4 km from 14.9 km, and reaches the day's high point of 28 m on Strada Torre Paola at about 20 km. It falls 18 m to 10 m by 22 km.
Km 22 to 33: Strada Lungomare to the Sacramento. From 23 km the route follows Strada Lungomare north through Sabaudia for ten kilometres at 12 to 18 m, flat and straight. It reaches Strada del Sacramento at 33 km, where the SRTM profile bottoms out at 1 m and the route is farthest from the start. This is the exposed stretch, with no shelter from wind in February.
Km 33 to 42.2: back into Sabaudia. The turn at the Sacramento brings the route back along Strada Diversivo Nocchia at 34 to 36 km, then Via Caporale Armando Tortini at 37 and 38 km, Via Caterattino at 39 km and Strada Lungomare Pontino at 40 km. It enters the town by Corso Principe di Piemonte at 41 and 42 km. The finish is in Piazza del Comune, where the expo and shuttle departure are also located.
The organiser's 2026 PDF says aid stations are about every 5 km. Wind direction, spectator density and exact markers were not verified.

The gun is at 09:30 in early February on an exposed coast. No sourced average temperature is available, so check the forecast in the week before.
Wear a throwaway layer for the wait at the harbour, because the shuttle brings runners before the start. The organiser carries a numbered bag sack from San Felice to Sabaudia, so a dry top and a warm layer for the finish can go in it. The loading deadline was not found. Road shoes suit the asphalt.
Entry
Entry is open, through ENDU, individually or as a group. There is no ballot. The 2026 fee schedule is in the table below; the 2027 bands are presumably similar but were not confirmed. Sterling figures use the ECB reference rate of €1 to £0.858 (28 September 2026).
A competitive entry needs valid 2027 FIDAL, EPS or RunCard status and the sports medical certificate. A foreign athlete's club declaration or a non-competitive waiver, and the deadline for it, depend on the current linked PDF, which was not accessible. Transfer and deferral rules, insurance and any field cap were not verified.

Bib collection in Sabaudia
Bibs are collected in Sabaudia on Friday 5 February from 10:00 to 19:00, on Saturday 6 February from 10:00 to 20:00 and on Sunday 7 February from 06:30 to 07:30. The exact venue beyond the town centre was not published.
Bring identification, the entry confirmation and competitive affiliation or medical proof. A simple individual or club delegation is accepted. Runners receive a numbered drop sack, which is carried between the two towns.
Collect on Friday or Saturday. The Sunday window closes at 07:30 and overlaps the shuttle.
Getting to the start
A free shuttle to a different town. Runners sleep and collect bibs in Sabaudia and ride a free coach to the start in San Felice Circeo, then run back to where they slept. Park at Via Oddone 1A, about three minutes' walk from Piazza del Comune, and go to Piazza Principessa Mafalda di Savoia behind the town hall. Coaches leave as they fill from 06:30 to 08:15, with no booking. Arrive with the bib.
Independent arrivals should be at the harbour on Via Ammiraglio Bergamini at least 30 minutes before the 09:30 gun. Race-day bib collection runs from 06:30 to 07:30. The numbered bag sack is carried from San Felice to Sabaudia, and the finish is in Piazza del Comune.
Allow a margin for the shuttle queue. Finish toilets, showers and any late-runner cutoff were not found in the accessible rules, and neither were the bag loading deadline or a clothing donation point.
Nutrition on course
The 2026 organiser PDF says stations are about every 5 km. The 2027 positions, drinks, gels and sponges are unconfirmed. Bring tested fuel.
Spectating
The finish in Piazza del Comune is the simplest sighting. A sighting at the harbour start, then a drive towards Sabaudia by an open road, depends on the final traffic plan, because the direct coast road may close. Torre Paola or the Sabaudia seafront may work if the 2027 map confirms them. No reliable public transport intercepts or live tracking were found. The runner shuttle is not a spectator service.

Post-race food
Sabaudia's centre allows short access to the town after the finish. No named eateries with Sunday February hours, and no 2027 pasta party, were verified.
Where to Stay
The start and finish are in different towns, so stay at the finish: Sabaudia. The free shuttle takes runners to the start, and the finish, bib collection and shuttle departure are all there.

Booking timeline
Entry fees rise by band through the year, so entering early saves money. Reserve refundable lodging in Sabaudia with an early breakfast.
Neither Sabaudia nor San Felice has a railway station. The organiser advises the Priverno-Fossanova station on the Rome to Naples line via Formia, then a Cotral bus, or a direct bus from Rome Laurentina. Sunday timetables and strikes need live checking. Arrive on Saturday to avoid a brittle February race-morning connection.
